Free Agency & Draft Mock

Recommended Posts

Here is my ideal scenario. Granted this does not include signing typical back-ups - but highlighted what I thought was key players. Suggestions - thoughts - I am sure I will have some who hate it.

Resign:

- CB B. Poole > 4 Years

- OLB Jordan Jenkins > 3 Years

- OT K. Beachum > 2 Years

- WR Demaryius Thomas > 1 Year

Trade:

- 2020 6th Round Pick, 2021 7th Round Pick to Eagles for WR Alshon Jeffery

Release:

- CB T. Johnson

- OG B. Winters

- CB D. Roberts

Free Agency [Projected $75M Available in Cap] :

- OG Joe Thuney > 5 Years

- OT Jack Conklin > 4 Years

- OLB Markus Golden > 3 Years

- CB Jimmy Smith > 2 Years

- CB Bradley Robey > 1 Year

Draft:

1. OT Tristan Wirfs

2. OLB Bradley Anae

3a. WR Brandon Aiyuk

3b. OC Loyld Cushenberry

4. CB Lavert Hill

5. WR Marquez Callaway

6. RB Darynton Evans

7. OLB DJ Wonnum

I think the biggest area for improvement after this offseason would be lack of an elite true #1 corner. I think Roby has upside if he can stay healthy & out of trouble - Jimmy Smith if healthy is a reliable #2 corner. Our offensive line would instantly become arguably top 12 in the league - our pass rush would see a much improved upgrade in depth - replace Robby with younger & cheaper deep threats while adding a serious red zone target in AJ from the Eagles.

I think Joe Douglas will build in the trenched in his first draft. As much as it would be exciting to see him take a guy like Jeudy - I just see him going pass protection or pass rush in the first two rounds. I really want to see what our offense would look like with a talented offensive line - I think we may be pleasantly surprised.

This would be ideal. But with Wirfs & Conklin, would there even be a need for Beachum? I'd be happy with Edoga as our swing tackle.

Beachum is insurance, but I think they is what edoga is going to be.  Beachum is also not buying the Gase act.

Guys not signed already are unlikely to be resigned.  Not impossible, but unlikely.

This scenario, honestly, hell even if only half happened, would be 10000000% better than our recent drafts..

How do we have 75 mil after resigning those 4? I think your cap numbers are way off.

edit- just looked it up we’ll be at $73mil if we cut Winters,Avery,Bellamy,Enunwa,Trumaine. Now we gotta save $10mil for the draft do $63mil give or take. With Conklin and Thuney likely getting $14-15mil/year each idk how we afford all of this while resigning Jenkins as well Idt he’s gonna come as cheap as people think. Love the draft though

We absolutely can. I’m fact that exactly what I Hope happens.
Remember what happened to the Bengals last season with Jonah Williams?

It can happen, but it’s the one position (Except QB) where having a 10m back up can not be done.   It’s two much money for a player that can’t get on the field.

A good point, but it doesn’t hurt to have wealth at any particular position. Plus, many OT begin on the inside at OG as rookies, then move to OT in year 2. Either way, going OL heavy = hearts in the right place.

Nice job....agree/happy with most. Two points I disagree with. 1) resigning DT means no to Jeffrey. Same player, keep the picks. 2) Sounds like the team likes Edoga, sees him as part of the future. Resigning Beachum would be an insurance plan for RT if Edoga not quite ready. Therefore, Conklin would be a pass because he's also a RT. Get the LT in the draft, it's loaded this year.

Sure, but Beachum signed for $8 mil 3 years ago when he was younger. I'm thinking that is the max it would take to sign him now at 3 years older and after Myles Garrett showed him to be the average T that he is.

If we can grab Thomas or Becton @ 11 I'd feel better about letting him walk, but if it Wirfs he will need time to slide over to the left side. People seem to think he's capable of doing just that but I wouldn't want a repeat of Edoga who was simply not ready to be on that side. Wirfs is most likely better than Edoga but not ready is not ready.

There would be cries of BUST in a week round these parts. :)
