Nuno Betancourt is a bad ass guitar player. I almost danced with my daughter to this tune as a father daughter dance but the words didn’t fit to her liking. It is in my top 5. He tunes it down a half tone and isn’t that hard to play. Intermediate or so. LOVE this tune. My daughter was 3 or 4 when it climbed the charts. I danced with her to this before she was in kindergarten.

southparkcpa
I play this on the piano to perfection. NO ONE can sing this the way McCartney can. He hits that high note and SMH.

greenwichjetfan
This was already one of my favorite songs by Simon & Garfunkel. Then I stumbled across this cover by Frusciante about a decade ago. One of the rare occasions where the cover is better than the original. Specific to this thread, I don't know whether or not it's the greatest. Honestly don't care. It is my favorite rock love song ever.
munchmemory
Song begins at :50 after piano interlude. Everyday I try to change my ways Still I find I'm calling your name Try to stop myself right from the very start But to be in love has torn me apart I've made it clear I want you near That constant fear that you might leave me standing here Can't help myself for this torturing inside Possessed by love, is the pain I cannot hide Chorus: Feelings, reach out and hold me Hold me close by your side So you see you've become a part of me A part that helps me to live and breathe Now you've gone I need you more and more each day A selfish need that won't go away You took my life and the love I've stored You took it all and left me nothing but wanting more Can't help myself from this torturing inside Possessed by love is the pain I cannot hide Chorus: Feelings, reach out and hold me Hold me close by your side Feelings, reach out and hold me Hold me close by your side Feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings Feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings Feelings, reach out and hold me

munchmemory
Relatively unknown ballad from one of my favorite bands, UFO. A bit long. But make sure you at least listen to Schenker's beautiful solo at 6:46. He's another wonderful guitarist. Oh it's been too many times and I can't go back Night bars, guitars, run down motels like shacks What it mounts up to I don't want it at all Lost you and I want you today Misty green and blue Love to love to love you Misty green and blue Love to love to love you To be something, to be with you Don't say that you'll never know Love to love to love you Half the time it could seem funny The other half is just too sad This west bound moon's they rise and fall Lost you and I want you today Misty green and blue Love to love to love you Misty green and blue Love to love to love you To be something, to be near you I don't know where I'm goin' to I've tried and I need you to stay

Larz
Probably posted already but I assume rock love song is a ballad? Probably not a song like more human than human ? 80s new wave has some of the best ballads but it’s not rock so.....
munchmemory
@Larz Nice post above. If you're going to include G'n'R, this one has to be there, too. Beyond epic.
munchmemory
Larz' post got me thinking of this one. Beautiful song. If I were to die this mornin' Would you tell me things that you wouldn't have? Would you be my navigator? Would you take me to a place we could hide? As I'm fallin' out I wonder what I lost Must be movin' on Know I'll be waitin' here alone I wanna ask you to forgive me I haven't been the best with all that I had Wish I'd only laid beside you I think I spread myself a little too thin As I'm fallin' out I wonder what I lost Must be movin' on Know I'll be waitin' here alone You're the everything That led me to believe Hold on, hold on You're the wonder in everything That's wonderful And as I'm fadin' out I don't feel anything at all Think I'm movin' on Know you'll be safe but not alone You're the everything That led me to believe Hold on, hold on You're the wonder in everything That's wonderful, that's wonderful Know you'll be safe but not alone

munchmemory
My baby's far away, yeah, it's time It's time and tide that makes you put the squeeze on me A thorn, a rose, alas, there's someone mockin' me behind my back Ooh is it the love girl ? Or the lack of it ? Some, someone, someone that's warm Again you don't want or need him Something that you need and it's not wrong you need him Not so long ago, yeah you're going out of your head, out of your head They told me you got lonely, your babe went cold on you Yeah, yes it's hard, so hard to feel the same again, yeah Hard, I still remember, yeah yeah You said it was different girl, you're still the same It was just the same, the same, the same Something just hit me, yeah I never knew, oh I never knew you said It's kinda cold truth inside of me Now I'm just existing dead Now I'm dead, I need to be assisted by you I need to be assisted by a woman Don't be hard instead, try to be warm to me, baby, try to be warm It's hard, so hard to feel the same again Oh I still remember, I remember well I remember, I remember yeah It was you gave me the feeling Now I love you more, yeah And there ain't nothing, there ain't nothing to make me ashamed Because love is the law and the will I love you still

munchmemory
Another great tune. This version from a concert film everyone should watch. It shows a band at the top of their game. Enough said about Paul. But Denny Laine and Jimmy McCulloch are phenomenal players throughout the set.
