Seahawks are “exasperated” with Jamal Adams

He can certainly try, but there's very little reason to believe he'd succeed.  Jimmy Graham tried a comparable move a few years back (wanting to be designated as a WR rather than TE on his franchise tag from the Saints) while having a much better argument to make, and a far more significant financial difference, yet was still ruled against.  Adam's isn't the only box safety in the league, and they're all pooled into the safety franchise tag numbers, not LB.

Yep.  Good rule of thumb:  If Jason at overthecap.com says you're a Safety, then you're a Safety.  If the team lists you as a Safety, then you're a Safety.

The NFL/owners always defeats the NFLPA in these type of higher level disputes, always.  Such precedence is hard to defeat in a Collectively Bargained league, and no court is going to side with the player until the league is no longer governed by a CBA.

Sucks for you Jamal!

What would his market value be if Carroll stopped blitzing him so much? A big part of his perceived value is he has a nose for the QB when he blitzes, but iirc Carroll already said they're looking to do that less because of the additional strain it puts on the secondary on those majority of blitz snaps where Adams doesn't sack (or even necessarily hurry) the QB.

It's an ultimate catch-22 for Seattle.  If they blitz him, he gets hurt, period (6 games missed with Jets & Seattle last 2 years, seasons in which he was sent on blitzes 90+ time each year).  If they don't blitz him, he sucks.  In either instance he loses value though, so I'm good with either scenario!

He'll never have a 9+ sack season again or anything close to it, either.  Offenses know what he is (and isn't).  His empty sacks don't help the team win.

@Pac, for one.

Pac said Jamal Adams was the right pick over Mahomes and still says so to do this day.

Pac said Jamal Adams would get paid by Joe Douglas.

Pac was right that Adams would get traded only for a king's ransom, so he got one right.

Pac preferred Darnold over the previous draft class QB options and still does, and hates how Darnold (due $20M in 2022) was treated by Joe Douglas.  He also still loves Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith and is still waiting for each of their ascensions.

Pac said he "couldn't wait" for Adams to get his contract.  He's still waiting.  Maybe at his 3rd stop Adams will finally get it.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where Canada strikes.  The Prime Minister keeps waiting for the world to give Canada more money.  He finally settles for some coupons in order to get something, pretends it was a big deal that Canada "won", after which the Canadian citizens set him adrift on the ice.  Pac is the Canadian prime minster:

I look forward to the day Pac provides the #'s that definitely will NOT win the lottery so I can win a lot of money.

Not really inclined to dissect this disaster of a post on a phone but my favorite lie was the one that has me screaming that id rather have adams than mahomes lol.

I guess if you're going to spew nonsense might as well make them doosies.

Fact of the matter is everything I said is and was correct with regards to adams.

He had 6.5 sacks in 14 games with the Jets and 9.5 in 12 games with the Seahawks. I think a pass rushing specialist is where his value rests and Pete knows that. So  I think 9ish sack years will be pretty common for Adams.

And while I agree, that some of his empty sacks aren't that helpful they are more helpful than having him, on 3rd down, try to keep up with Elijah Moore in the open field.

I still really like Jamal and appreciate his contributions to the Jets.
No reason not to ..guy was a beast for us ... but I sure as hell am glad Seattle has to deal w/ the diva baggage side of Adams.

Dude is a baller and consummate SS/OLB hybrid...haters gonna hate ... but the dude puts in maximum effort every play.

How will they compute Jamal's franchise amount?  What's the average annual salary of the top 5 dawgs in the NFL?

“Listen bro, I feel like I hit the quarterback so much, I know the position better than they do!  Ya feel me?! Us dawgs gotta eat. I deserve that QB money, and I’m not talking about that low end number either, I’d be right up there with Patty Mahomes if they let me ball how I know I can ball. LUV. ✌?

Revisionist history.  Something you and JiF are great at!  Narcissists construct their own reality.  Nothing happened the way anyone else said it happened, only the way you saw it through your own lens.

You 3 narcissists (Pac, JiF, Jamal Adams) deserve each other, and I couldn't be happier.

Much like Pac, JiF can't admit he's wrong, ever.  His personality type prevents him from being able to do so, I'm afraid.  It's sad and funny all at once.

It's an important human quality and a good life skill.  Admitting you're wrong goes a long way with the people.  I should know.

So I guess we Jets fans have to continue to suffer with Jamal Adams vicariously through Seattle?  Seems that way.

Why suffer when you can just gain enjoyment from it?  Why live vicariously through another team on this one?  It's tough enough being a Jets fan.

Thought I'd come to the opposite conclusion after running the numbers, but Seattle isn't offering enough to make it worth signing.

Jamaal Adams is under contract (or team control, with franchise tags) for 39.6M over the next 3 years (9.86M, 13.5M, 16.86M). They've offered him 17.5M per on a 4 year extension (meaning he plays out this year at 9.86M and the new salary kicks in next year) - that's 44.86M over the same time period - a difference of only 5.2M.

Adams is 25, turning 26 in October. If he takes this deal, he's locked up through the 2025 season, and hits FA again in the 2026 offseason as a 30 (soon to be 31) year old FS, likely looking at another big deal but not top of market, probably for 3 real years (through his age 33 season). If he turns it down, he'll hit the market in the 2024 FA period as a 28 year old, and probably gets a top of market 5 year deal at that age (also through his age 33 season). And the market will have probably risen enough to make the money he gets for years 1 and 2 of his new deal (2024-25, which would've been the last two years on Seattle's current offer) more than enough to cover the 5.2M he "gives up" by playing out his tag.

So for Adams, the rational thing to do is to get a good insurance policy covering injury and play out his tags, since "losing the guaranteed money by getting injured" is his only real incentive to sign.

Note - it would be very different if they were offering to tear up the option year; that would be a difference of 17M over the next 3 years plus he'd hit FA again at 29 (young enough to get a bigger deal). But as it is - he should be sticking to his guns.

Totally right about everything.  Adams has to bet on himself to stay healthy.  Which should go great given he's missed 6 games over the last 2 years.

Per OTC, Adams has been paid $32,208,808 to date.  Assuming the Seahawks offered $17.5mm per for four years, he would have made over $100,000,000 in a few years.  How much more money does one need?  This is not a guy who is trying to get a few million more in his 3.2 years in the league to make sure he has enough money for the rest of his life.

This is purely pride and ego on his part and he will likely lose out in the long run because of it.

The Jets won and I do not think you would find anyone on the planet who would redo Seattle's side of that deal today.  You would be hard pressed to find a football fan that would not run to the bank in order to redo the Jets side of that deal again today.

Not even you

Cool. I never said otherwise.  I applauded JD for the trade.  Total no brainer for the Jets.

I was responding to that weird wrongly placed victory lap 80 just tried to pull when in fact, everything that has happened proved he was wrong and I was right.  80's whole stance was, Adams sucks and isnt worth it, will never get that deal, will never be worth this that and the other...and yet he yielded 2 first rounders and is now being offer the richest deal for a safety in the league.  Meanwhile, the Jets went 2-14 and he made the playoffs.  He'll do it again this year while the Jets watch at home again.  So, Jamal won because he got everything he wanted and now he's just negotiating.  This hit piece was stupid and doesnt change the facts.

In conclusion, I was right and 80 was once again, wrong.

I need to stop reading this thread. I'm feeling the anxiety and frustration of what it would have been like to still have Jamal Adams on this team. He is no longer our headache, but I'm somehow still feeling it.

Let it wash away.  It's their problem, not ours.  You and Dcat aren't making much sense on this one.  Don't let the PTSD creep in.

Hahaha you lost!!!  Jamal hasn't been paid and hasn't won sh*t.  You are so predictable hahahahahah.  Can't just sit there in your wrongness and say nothing, or say you got this wrong, you simply had to respond like anyone could predict.

You sided with Pac and DWC and lost miserably, and still can't take the L!  Narcissists unite!  Jamal Adams, JiF, Pac and DWC!  Quite the coalition.  You will take the L and like it, and I will enjoy my victory lap even more.  Jamal Adams sucks.

Still ❤️ you but holy sh*t man just let yourself be wrong once in a while.  It's OK.  I was wrong about Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2016, wrong about Darnold being "the guy", I was wrong about Quinnen Williams being a bust, I appear to be wrong about several members of the JD 2020 draft class, and so many other things.  Just say you were wrong, you can do it!!!

Cute rant and very colorful, I know you got all excited for maybe finally getting some right for once but sorry, you're wrong, again and jumped the gun by making a really stupid post doing a victory dance that was actually dancing on the grave of your own wrongness.  I'd be embarrassed for you but as you illustrated, you're very used to being wrong all the time so this should feel normal.

You heard it folks.  Adams is a Linebacker in his own mind.

He's more than a Safety, I was told.  He's more than a WLB, I was told.  So what is he?  An undersized WLB who gets empty sacks or a bad coverage Safety who blitzes a bunch and makes a few tackles?  Answer:  Whichever one gets him the most money!

Fun times!

You're never wrong in your own mind.  Ever.  Don't try to use my wrongness against me either, because I've admitted when I'm wrong.  Add Josh Allen to the list I presented earlier as I neglected that one.

When you're wrong, you change reality to make yourself right.  It's what narcissists do.  Don't be a Jamal Adams.  Just take the L and deal.  For once in your message board life.  It's getting so sad to watch what you're becoming when it comes to this topic.

Or just deal with being wrong in another way that you see fit.  Your takes on this subject are wrong and silly.  And no one believes you're right on this one.  Every response to your posts on this subject have opposed you (though there have been a few cute upvotes, how sweet) so its not just me, silly goose.
