GLH222
I wanted to throw this question out there as Im guessing were going to be split on this one, depending on where you call home....being a Long Island guy myself, Im pretty bummed that my summer days of heading over to Hofstra to catch a Jet practice are all but over. Even if you live in Jersey a part of you has to be dissapointed that the NEW YORK Jets will no longer have any affifiliation with the state, right??? Lets hear some thoughts

Lets hear some thoughts I live about 30 minutes from the Meadowlands and about the same from the new facility, so you would think I'm happy that the team is staying in NJ. But I'm not. The Jets heritage is NY, specifically Queens, which would have been the perfect place for a new "Jets Stadium". I would have gladly driven the extra 10-15 minutes like I used to do to see the NEw YORK Jets play.

TaborJet
I've said this before....Now that the West Side Stadium is kaput, I'm a selfish bastard. I'm 10 minutes away from the new facilities and 25 minutes from the stadium, and I like it that way!
JetCane
I would have preferred a stadium in Queens and keeping tc at Hofstra, but there are a lot of things that happen in the name of progress that arent my preferred choice. People walking and driving with cell phones glued to their faces, having to file tax returns every year, not being born wealthy and having to work for a living... That's the way it goes sometimes. But on the other hand, there's a lot of free porn on the internet.

Oh with a state of the art training facilities I might add! Yeah and it is really, really close to JN Corporate headquarters!

Lets hear some thoughts Could you actually watch regular season practices or are you talking about training camp? A lot of NFL teams hold their training camps hundreds of miles from their home base. The Pats used to hold training camp at Bryant College in Smithfield, RI. That was a good 2 hour drive from my place so I never went. When Gillette was opened the Pats moved training camp there. Now I go to 1 or 2 practices a year.
4HCrew
lets see not having to fight the Jones beach traffic or go over 4000 bridges to get there is somewhat appealing to this NJ resident. I also think it benefits the team to not travel so far to their "home" field

This way all the young Mom's could watch practice after dropping their kids off.

Haha, good idea what was really funny was that one day last summer there was a concert next door in either the Coliseum or a hotel- it was one of those bands that appeals to 7-8 year olds, but I dont remember the name of the group. Well, that day, all the moms came to practice and hung there until it was time to take their kids to the show. Lots of eye candy that day.

TBrady
I live in NJ, only about 20-30 minutes from the stadium depending on traffic, but I wanted the Jets to get their own stadium back in NY and was pissed at the Dolans and the NY regulators for screwing up the whole WSS plans, I still think they could've gone to Queens rather than giving in and staying with the Giants. But I would've been against a move to Long Island, sorry Long Islanders but a move to the island kind of isolates the team from the rest of us fans in NY and NJ who would have to put up with an hour and a half or more of traffic jams and congestion trying to get out there. seeing how much the cost of the new stadium has risen and that is without a dome, I don't see how they would've gotten the WSS stadium with a dome built for around that same price, and I am sure it will even go up more before all is said and done. Ticket prices will be even worse to cover the costs, I doubt I will be going to many games by then, it is getting too expensive now, how bad will it be when they got to pay off a multi- billion dollar stadium? faba
This is old drawn out past history- New York was never going to work- too many competing special interest groups, costs and environmental issues to throw out the proposed plan.
124
The New Jersey area is closer to the stadium making it seem less like a road game on game days. This is an easy move to be made especially now that the Jets will be staying in New Jersey for a long time.
Bugg
It moves them further from me in Brooklyn, but I expect that I'll still take the tyke for an annual visit to camp because we both have a great time at the fan fest. It's a done deal, and if it means this team has it's own state-fo-the-art facility and makes travel to home games that much easier for the team, so be it. The WSS is dead. Best I can tell, all these people in love with Queens never went to a Jets game at Shea on a nasty December day.As much as it lengthens my commute for NJ after games, the Meadowlands is so much better than anything the Jets had in NYC that it's not even a fair comparison. And the sooner the better. Figure the coaching staff probably would lek to be settled once and for all in NJ. Want to get upset over something, wait for the "seat license" bill. gsnts725
the Jets should be called the NEW JERSEY Jets since we won't have anymore teams except for the Devils when the Nets move.

This way all the young Mom's could watch practice after dropping their kids off. That's a major problem. Every summer camp on LI takes advantage of the free admission.Doesn't seem there's any reservation or notification system in place. They just show up and run wild. If this move cuts down on that, all the better.

SeniorFlaJet
If you think it was a fiasco trying to get the WSS built, it wouldn't compare to what would go on if they tried to build it in Queens. A lot has changed since Shea was built. Queens is very multi cultural now. One of my sons lives in fla but keeps an apartment in Queens because on of his businesses is in queens. I've seen more soccer games going on and even saw a rugby game last time I was there. Groups were forming to fight it when the rumors started that Queens would be an option. For me just tell me where you are going to play so when I fly up I buy my tickets for JFK or Newark. One thing I will say for those who live in LI and have to travel to GS. The ride home must be cruel and unusual punishment if they lose. Its got to take 3-4 hours on a Sunday night!
