Today - the Jets had 4 sacks - Ellis, Pace, Thomas (2) plus a bunch of pressures. When the coaches dialed up pressure, the Jets got pressure. All day. What game were you watching? Ryno the Jet Posted September 8, 2008 Share Posted September 8, 2008 The pass rush was great for opening week. Sure, you would like to see them get there a bit quicker, but four sacks is alright. I was actually surprised how well Miami's O-line played, especially Long. He had the 2 penalties and a few missed blocks, but not bad for his first game. In other news, Abe played Detroit and Kitna. Not a peep as the guy misses most of the season the year we traded him and Atlanta gives him a $45M contract...and then wait for a game like this once in a great while & proclaim that we should have kept him all along? lol And rushing the passer is only half of a DE's job. The rest of the time he's supposed to be stopping RB's who run his way. And he's not even average at that. On all the running plays & other passing plays he was there for one tackle - and that came after Kevin Smith had already run for 6 yards. How did Detroit do running the ball to Abe's side? 1-10-DET 16 (13:27) 34-Kevin Smith left tackle to DET 24 for 8 yards (26-E.Coleman). 1-10-ATL 49 (8:34) 34-Kevin Smith left tackle to ATL 41 for 8 yards (36-L.Milloy). 1-4-ATL 4 (4:49) 34-Kevin Smith left tackle to ATL 3 for 1 yard (36-L.Milloy, 50-C.Lofton). 1-10-DET 41 (14:55) 34-Kevin Smith left tackle to DET 47 for 6 yards (55-J.Abraham). 2-3-DET 44 (4:38) 34-Kevin Smith left tackle to ATL 46 for 10 yards (36-L.Milloy). The only time the pass rush was non exsistent was in the 4th quarter in the final six minutes when they called off the dogs (for reasons I cannot understand). Thomas - 2 sacks.
