On the first play from scrimmage in Sunday's Bucs-Washington game, Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III rolled to his left and fired a pass for tight end Niles Paul, who was open. But the ball bounced off Paul's hands and into the waiting arms of Bucs linebacker Danny Lansanah. It was Lansanah's third interception of the season, which leads all NFL linebackers.

And, yes, Lansanah used to play for the Jets, though he was never on the active roster for any games, which is why he was overlooked in our roundup of how former Jets players are doing this season with other NFL teams.

So who is Danny Lansanah? He's a 29-year-old journeyman whose pro football career to date is best expressed in agate type. Lansanah played his college ball at Connecticut before entering the NFL in 2008 as an undrafted free agent with the Packers. He bounced around the following season with the Dolphins and Lions and was then out of the NFL for three years, playing in something called the United Football League. He joined the Jets in January 2013 on a futures contract.

Lansanah initially made the 53-man roster out of training camp before getting cut the following day. He then was promoted to the active roster the following week before being placed on the practice squad just days that. And that's where he remained until last December, when the Bucs plucked him away after linebacker Jonathan Casillas was placed on injured reserve.

Lansanah has played about 50 percent of the Bucs' snaps this season, mostly as a strong-side outside linebacker in the 4-3. His first two picks this season—one against the Falcons, one against the Saints—were returned for touchdowns. Per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times:
