Jets announce trade for Tebow

Jets fan: I HATE THE JETS and I HATE TEBOW. THEY BOTH SUKKKK

trade is held up due to contract issue

Jets fan: I HATE TANNY FOR NOT READING A CONTRACT. HE SUKKKS

I'm not sure why you see these as contradictory feelings. One kind of just compounds the other on the ineptitude scale.

No, it's what you think "in principle" means.

In Principal is a softcore hot-for-teacher porn.

The rumor I'm hearing is Tanny knew of the $5M clause but wanted to get the fan reaction before going ahead with the deal. When he heard so many Jets fans on JN and other sites would quit supporting the team he refused to finalize the deal.

Reading contracts hard work. Tanny no likley hard work.

Actually I blame one of his assistants, They are the ones who are supposed to inform him of things like that. Still his fault because he likely hired them.

It took the Sirius nfl guys all of a 5 minute commercial break to scan the contract and find the problem. This looks so foolish.

In... Principle.

It's like saying "oh my god they didn't give him a physical before announcing the deal!"

Yeah, of course not. What do you expect?

The team announced the deal. Nobody is saying they can't back out. They can. That is what "in principle" gets you. The Jets never submitted the paperwork to the league. All deals are in principle until that happens.

There is a secure web portal that the teams use to view player contracts. The Jets did not do that. This is a MAJOR screw up. Calling it anything different is understating it.

Sorry Archie,

It's not that the Jets Can't do anything Right,

It's the fact that Denver never wanted to trade Tebow to the Jets.

LOL. I am not going to lie. The conspiracy theory behind your answer is going to be funny.

Grammar and Spelling Police is generally very lame

I know, I know. But I hate Mike Tannenbaum and I lost my wallet last night and I just couldn't handle people typing "in principal" with the same emphasis they'd use if they were saying it to a retarded child.

Can any team view really read any other team's contracts? even the fine print? I don't know if that sounds right.

And you are complaining. If they hadn't screwed up then Tebow would be here and I'll bet you would be part of the crowd screaming how could they add this guy.

People screw up. It happens. Someone is going to pay for it, end of story. Everyone is human. If this happened in the Manning deal I'd be right along side of you, but this is Tebow, so why are we making a mountain out of donut crumbs.

I am not sure exactly how the access works. But they were talking about how it is done on the NFL Network (on radio). They explained this secure web portal that is routinely used when teams are discussing trades.

michale lombardi said it 5 times, all contracts, all language, is available to all 32 teams. but like you said, all trades are contingent on details being hammered out, including physicals

the jets mistake was jumping the gun with the announcement

which makes no sense, it's not like they were trying to influence another free agent to sign here

just really poorly handled

yes they did read the contract.

tanny stated on FAN, for the record, they adressed all of the salary advance issues in a "trade paper" they sent to the broncos. tanny said he was comfortable with where they were at in the process, so that's why they made the announcement. my interpretation of that is he pretty much figured they haggle it out and meet in the middle

lots of drama over nothing really.

The trade paper said "Oh, by the way, we're not giving you the $5 mil so go eat a dick" and Tannenbaum was shocked when Denver balked. Buffoonery any way you look at it.

I am not buying that entirely. No way the Jets send that tweet if they are aware they are haggling over 5.1 million dollars.

You know what buffoonery is it's guys like you getting sucked in by the media asking where's the circus going to be? in the locker room or the page 6? Who's going to create the craziness? The people inside the locker room and FO or the folks outside with pads, pens and keyboards. ie YOU

My take is that he thought he'd announce the deal in an effort to pressure the Broncos into forgiving the 5.1M

I don't think that's the Webster's definition of "buffoonery."

I'm telling you the excuse that came out of Tannenbaum's mouth.

Man I hope that isn't the case. The Jets pretty much lost all their leverage once that happened. Now the Broncos did pick up half but that would be a scary thought. The only thing worse than trading for Tim Tebow is announcing that you traded for Tim Tebow when you actually didn't.

wrong. the buffoonery was in how the media over- reacted and folks like you lapped it up so eagerly

mike lombardi actually went on NFL network and started going on and on about how all the contracts are "in the system for anyone to print out".

yeah, they did that.

yeah, they did that.

1. Tannenbaum and Denver agree in principle (verbal agreement).

2. Jets official Twitter and Facebook announce deal for Tebow.

3. Denver receives trade papers--written agreement. Trade papers specify no $5 mil clause will be honored.

4. Broncos refuse, release statement saying "Jets did not read contract." Deal is on the rocks.

5. Jacksonville allegedly in play.

6. Tannenbaum yields $2.5 mil.

This is all fact. Tannenbaum basically said so this morning. Good luck with your homerific interpretation.
