They can cut him today and designate him as a June 1 cut. I think they'll try to trade him today, though. If they're willing to eat his entire contract by cutting him, it would make sense to eat 3/4 of it if you could get a late pick back for him, instead. It makes 0 sense to cut Sanchez. None. It probably makes more sense than keeping him. The Jets were legitimately scared to start him at home at the end of last season. It's best for him and the team if they go their separate ways. That's done. The next question is whether it's worth it to keep a QB that most of the players have no faith in, and the fans absolutely despise, just because you don't want to throw that money away. I don't think it's too tough of a decision, as that money is already thrown away, IMO. It will please the fan base significantly, and remove a cloud from the locker room. A lot of positives. And if there's no plans to play the guy, you bite the bullet, trade/cut him, and remove the distraction. You KNOW there has to be a team out there that thinks they can "fix" Sanchez, so it's not completely inplausible that he doesn't get traded. But either way, he needs to be gone.
