Sanchez Pre-Cut Day Celebration Thread

I almost cried when Geno got picked. Not cause I think Geno is good, cause he kind of sucks. But cause this means we might get rid of that dope, Sanchez.

We are going to get rid of him, right???

Exactly.  Bonus play if he actually improves and becomes our guy.  All gravy.

I wouldn't want to be him right about now.

June 1st, Mark will be turning in his keys and playbook.CUt him today, $17 million cap hit. Do it June 1, $12 million.

They can cut him today and designate him as a June 1 cut.

I think they'll try to trade him today, though. If they're willing to eat his entire contract by cutting him, it would make sense to eat 3/4 of it if you could get a late pick back for him, instead.

It makes 0 sense to cut Sanchez. None.

It probably makes more sense than keeping him. The Jets were legitimately scared to start him at home at the end of last season. It's best for him and the team if they go their separate ways.

How does that make fiscal sense though? Why not keep him, start him and lose a ton of games if you still have to pay him? Garrard will get injured and you'd be forced to start Geno quicker than you would like.

There's nothing fiscally sensible about paying Sanchez $8.25M, but they have no choice in the matter. That's done.

The next question is whether it's worth it to keep a QB that most of the players have no faith in, and the fans absolutely despise, just because you don't want to throw that money away. I don't think it's too tough of a decision, as that money is already thrown away, IMO. It will please the fan base significantly, and remove a cloud from the locker room. A lot of positives.

lol at all the people who can't wait for Sanchez to be cut.  The same people who were so happy when we drafted him, and are so happy now that we drafted Geno.

I predict there will be a similar thread in 4 years for Smith.

Maybe so.  And so what?

Can you not be optimistic about a draft pick who's highly touted and happy that we're moving on from a bust?

There's a reason I'm a fan and not a scout.

There's simply no way you can throw Sanchez in front of the home fans this season.  None.  And if there's no plans to play the guy, you bite the bullet, trade/cut him, and remove the distraction.

You KNOW there has to be a team out there that thinks they can "fix" Sanchez, so it's not completely inplausible that he doesn't get traded.  But either way, he needs to be gone.  We can't carry 4 QB's, much less 5.

So cause you were happy when he was drafted, means you should be happy that four years later he sucks? And drafting a new QB and being happy means its a like situation to Sanchez? Your logic has failed you.
