How to fill the gaping hole Revis left in our supple secondary

The New York Daily News reports the Jets have expressed interest in free agent Brandon Browner.
However, "it appears unlikely" Browner signs with the Jets at this point. It's the first team connected to Browner since it was announced that he'll only face a four-game suspension to open the 2014 season. He could be a fallback option for GM John Idzik, who obviously knows Browner from their Seattle days. Mar 12 - 6:33 PM

Idzik is a fuc*** idiot. After how badly the secondary was torched last year - repeatedly, looks like we're downgrading the talent.... Unless he has some mysterious secret plans and ain't telling, things don't look good. This is a passing league and cornerbacks come at a premium..Even BB and N.E knew that and didn't mind paying the 12 mil.

New England had egg in their face from getting Talib snatched away. They paid out of desperation. Their team gets worse each year Brady gets older, the Jets are in an entirely different place.

Meh. BB signing Revis was a short-sighted sticking it to the Jets.  They entered free agency with just over $15M in cap, and just spent $12M on one player...who will be able to walk away next season.

It's a big **** You to Rex Ryan.  Lets see how it affects their total roster before we kiss their rings.

It's practically impossible to get worse corner back play than what Cro gave us last year, no matter who we sign, it'll be an upgrade.

Brandon Browner is 6'4, 221.  He plays press-man coverage with the best of them, and will come with a 12-game discount.

We can sign him, AND re-sign Cromartie, and have two guys for a fraction of what Revis cost.

Question: When have you ever known about an Idzik move before it was done? In otherwords, yes...there's some mysterious secret plan and he aint telling. Good GM's do this. I know as a Jet fan its hard to recognize what a good GM looks like. I share that pain

FOX Boston reports free agent CB Brandon Browner will visit the Patriots on Thursday.

Suspended for the first four games of 2014, Browner would be a press-specialist luxury for Darrelle Revis and the Pats. The Jets have also expressed interest, but the Pats appear to be his first visit. Browner turns 30 in August.

Yeah, not sure how that logic of the Jets alleged downgrading works at all.  They have the entire secondary under contract with the exception of Cromartie, who was not only a mess last year, but is still available in FA.

Even if Browner was as good as Revis the suspension is a no-go... We can't have Milliner and Wilson as our starting corners for 4 weeks. Maybe if we draft CB top 3, but even then it's still risky.

We went through the same dealy with Winslow last year.  Four games is nothing.

Is that sarcasm? Winslow was basically a non-factor. I prefer Cumberland over Winslow... I think it's a horrible situation to put Milliner in as the no.1 corner weeks 1-4.

No sarcasm.  Winslow might not be the best example other than the fact that our team won't shy away from a player they view as being talented just for being suspended.

Whether we add Browner or not, Milliner is likely to be our no.1 CB for weeks 1-16.  The other spot is the one up for grabs right now, and likely to be manned by a new addition (a second or third-tier FA type), a draft pick, or one of our depth guys like Wilson, Walls, Berry etc.

If that's the case I'm very worried... I'm hoping it isn't. I don't believe Milliner has earned the right to the no.1 spot. If they're still exploring other CBs Munnerlyn, Browner, ect. I'd say give them the no.1 and Milliner no.2 and Wilson the nickel as always. I'd much rather have Munnerlyn at the no.1 then Milliner any day, at least until he shows us he is a legit no.1.

Because Wilson is a bust, and Milliner is shaky at best... You can't invest everything in 3 INTs against sub par teams. You want that to be our starting lineup at corner back?... I sure don't.

Lol, you can't knock a rookie at possibly the hardest defensive position to transfer to from college. And when did wilson become a bust? He's 1 of the best nickle corners in the league. The only, reason he still plays there.

And if we do bring in captain who's a nickle, kyle will get a island.

Lol, sorry to brake it to you.
