Woody Must Appease Fans With Big Name Coach

Except it's almost verbatim the exact same thing Bit said when we fired Mangini.

And if JI was still around, I'd almost bet it's the same thing he said when we fired Herm Edwards.

Bit is the Anti-SAR. SAR wants every coach fired every year. Bit never wants the Coach fired, ever.

That may be true, but his notion that keeping Idzik will prevent us from getting a good coach is correct.  Woody would be making the same mistake that he made two years ago when he kept Rex.  Woody needs to wipe the slate clean. Rex, Idzik, Bradway, Bauer, and Glat all need to be escorted out 1 Jets Drive on Black Monday.

I'll make a list for you ...

1) He got a pretty good deal for Revis

2) He cleaned up the cap mess (don't say anyone would have done that because it's simply not true.  Not everyone would have)

3) He drafted a DROY

4) He put the Jets in VERY good position for next year and saved money in a year (this year) that the team wasn't going anywhere anyway.

5) He missed on 15/16 draft picks.

so you think a better coach "develops" Geno Smith? Really?

No I think a better coach realizes that Sanchez sucks and doesn't stick with him till the bitter end.  I think a better coach realizes that Tebow though a potential useful gadget is in no way shape or form a legit backup and a better coach after one bad experience with a rookie insists on getting a low turnover vet and is not hesitant to make a change.  That's what I expect.

I didn't help finance anything, but if that's how people want to spend their money, who am I to argue?

Also, it took Brian Winters' ACL exploding to get Aboushi as a "starter" so easy on the praise there. You think Amaro will pan out and hope that Milliner and McDougle will as well - great. All three have sucked but I certainly hope they pan out, too.

Winters was also an Idzik pick, for whatever that's worth.. Not much

You can't fairly judge Amaro Milliner McDougle or even Pryor at this point. Not ever player is a stud out the gate. I certainly don't think any of them are in the Hill or Gholston category and I wouldn't be surprised if all four are solid starters by this time next year.

But I'm wasting my breath.. Apparently according to some he's already blown two drafts.

I don't consider it wasting your breath. We can only judge these guys on the games they've played so far, and for the majority of thise games, 15/16 of his draft picks haven't been good.

Amaro has shown flashes of competency, but he's had tons of drops. Milliner has been terrible outside of 3 games. Pryor has been terrible. McDougle is wild card.

You know as well I do the Seahawks D has really stepped it up the past few weeks.  They are playing at a much higher level than they were early on.

In addition Sanchez has only been playing a few weeks.  I'm not saying he's Peyton Manning but he's hasn't been pretty good as the QB of the Eagles.

BTW the seahawks at home is very different than the seahawks on the road. the game was 24-14 at home it's a typical Sanchez situation. The offense just couldn't score enough points. It's not outlandish to ask an NFL QB to match a team that scores 24 at home. as it gets colder it will only be worse for Mark.

If you don't think Woody is influenced by a FREAKING PLANE FLYING OVER PRACTICE and billboards/towels calling for his general manager to be fired, then you simply don't know Woody Johnson.

I think anyone whose customers went to that extent and expense would be influenced by it.

If my customers did that to me, I sure as sh*t would be influenced.

Which only proves your're not a Billionaire Business Owner.

It's like anything, a tiny minority of Fans speak far in excess of their influence.

Then there is the great unwashed masses who keep buying tickets, keep buying beer, and actually matter to the bottom line.

A good Owner ignores the whims of fickle (and mostly stunningly ignorant) Fans.

If Woody fires Idzik because Idzik sucks, great.

If Woody fires Idzik because a few chuckleheaded fans put up a billboard.......that would be embarassingly bad, Dan Snyder-level bad.

Milliner is as bad as it gets. Pryor has shown nothing, not even a little bit. Amaro looks decent, with some upside, and McDougle is a third round pick who is on IR with a major leg injury. These are the HIGHLIGHTS of Idziks tenure, btw. Lol

Woody should fire Idzik because he doesn't want to hire Idzik the head coach next.

Never pretended to be.

I think the truth lies in the middle.

Yeah, Idzik sucks and if Woody agrees he should be fired.

But when Woody sees a plane flying over the practice field and towels being handed out at a game, I don't think he's saying, "f*ck them, they all don't know sh*t".  That has to influence him just a little bit, no?

Bevell could be a candidate at Wisconsin

With the Wisconsin head-coaching gig finally open, here’s a name to watch as the Badgers start the process of replacing him: Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Folks with a finger on the pulse of such issues have flagged Bevell as a viable candidate. And for good reason; Bevell played quarterback at Wisconsin in the 1990s. His coach at the time was the guy who’ll hire the next coach, A.D. Barry Alvarez.

Bevell has served as the offensive coordinator in Seattle since 2011. Before that, Bevell worked as offensive coordinator with the Vikings. Before that, Bevell was an assistant with the Packers.

Bevell has gotten consideration for NFL head-coaching jobs, but no one has been sufficiently interested to refrain from hiring a coach until Bevell’s season with the Seahawks has ended. With Seattle poised for what appears to be another run deep into the postseason, his best chance to get a head coaching job could be to jump to college football.

This is my take.

If Woody has serious concerns about Idzik, but also feels (like some fans) that it's not fair to fire him after two years -or maybe he has concerns about eating that much contract!- those airplane banners, billboards, and towels might help him to come down on the firing side. Certainly no amount of outside pressure is gonna do anything if Woody thinks he's doing a great job. But if this is the nudge that gets him to do the right thing, then that's a good thing.

Woody Johnson says you're wrong, Warfish. From Woody:

“I’m a fan, I represent the fans. We’re both frustrated by this. Ultimately, I am going to have to look for something that I believe is going to right the ship, whether it’s the current way, the way we are doing it now with the people we have now or going down a different pathway. I’m looking at everything."

Asked if two years was long enough to give a G.M. to put a program into place, Johnson replied: “I can’t really comment whether it is short or long. I’m a fan, I represent the fans, we’re both frustrated by this."

2-14 is the only reason. In the NFL 2-14 gets coaches,.GMs and other management fired. Its about results. It has nothing to do with the five media whores and their quest for articles and TV and radio time and handing out free anti Jet trinkets to the 30000 Pat fans ar the stadium next week.

2-14 did the job. Idzik will lose his job. My bet is that the five "founders of the cause" are actually pissed off because they won't be able to garner more minutes of fame with the boycotts, TV commercials, torchlight parades, demonstrations in Times Square and in front of Johnsons house that were probably being cooked up
