The stadium is a not a fun place to be anymore if every Sunday is like yesterday even though we came out on the winning side. The PA announcer is a hot mess, the music is annoying, the antics from the Jets t-shirts launched into the crowd really? men stuffing boxes into mini vans, men throwing footballs into garbage cans I thought I was at a minor league baseball game. The J-E-T-S chant is missing, keep the rest of the rah rah crap and bring back the chant. They remain, IMO, pretty awesome. David Mikkelson May 2, 2008 SHARE 1.4K Claim: A spectator at a football game was killed by a flying model lawnmower. TRUE Origins: The halftime show provided for a crowd of 45,000 fans attending the Jets-Cheaters football game at Shea Stadium on 9 December 1979 was an exhibition staged by the Electronic Eagles of the Radio Control Association of Greater New York. The group's model air show, a popular entertainment previously presented hundreds of times at halftimes and other events, featured radio-controlled airplanes that performed maneuvers around the stadium, engaged in aerial dogfights, and showcased flying model planes crafted in unusual shapes. On this occasion, however, the exhibition did not go off without a hitch. Partway through the show a model plane crashed into the football field — a harbinger of tragedy to come, especially after the crowd began to grow concerned about how closely some of the aircraft were approaching to fans seated in the stands. As one spectator present later expressed his unease to the New York Times: They were sending those things right over the crowds. I had an aisle seat near an exit, and I had it in my mind that if it came near me, I would run. It seemed so stupid, so sick, to send this thing over these people. Shortly before the end of the 15-minute show, Philip Cushman, a Brooklyn auto collision repairman, lost control of the model aircraft he was guiding, a novel plane shaped like a lawnmower with a red reel and silver handle. The plane circled the stadium a few times, then abruptly nose-dived into the stands about five rows behind the Cheaters' bench on the third-base side of the stadium. As the lawnmower-shaped craft plummeted into the seats, it struck two spectators, 20-year-old John Bowen of Nashua, New Hampshire, and 25-year-old Kevin Rourke, of Lynn, Massachusetts. Both men suffered serious head injuries from the incident. Kevin Rourke received emergency room treatment for a concussion and was admitted to a hospital for additional observation, while John Bowen, whom one observer at the scene described as looking "like he had been attacked by an ax," underwent emergency surgery that evening. Although Rourke recovered satisfactorily and was eventually discharged from the hospital, Bowen died of his injuries four days later. Police and prosecutors began an investigation when it became apparent that Bowen was unlikely to survive his injuries, but Queens district attorney John J. Santucci said authorities "had no reason to believe [the incident] was anything other than an accident," and the matter was judged to be a civil issue rather than a criminal one. Ghost
I'm speechless at some of these comments. Am I a season ticket holder? No, but I attend 5-7 games a year. I simply will not invest in season tickets for many reasons 1. The product on the field. We are a boring ******* team. I have two large screen TVs in my basement; one for the Jets game and the other for RedZone. That's usually more entertaining than actually going to the stadium. I'll usually order some food for about $20 and have a couple beers. 2. Our stadium SUCKS. This simply aggravates me. It honestly boils my blood. Almost everything about the stadium sucks. I'll start off by saying we share a stadium with our older brother in New Jersey. I feel like the entire team and fans are miserable during these games. We are so lifeless and do not provide a home-field advantage whatsoever and the reasoning behind that may be because of the product on the field. On top of that, our stadium is ugly and we don't even use the JETS chant anymore. I remember Aaron Rodgers coming to MetLife the one year and he emphasized how quiet our stadium was. 3. No sign of hope. I'm a very positive person, but please, answer me this. Do we have ANYTHING positive to look forward to? Leonard Williams looks like a stud. We invested in our secondary and it's one of many weaknesses on our team. We constantly draft players that do not produce and haven't had a QB in almost 5-decades. Enough is enough. Hate to sound so negative but this is the truth.

Where I sat in 233 in Giants Stadium for 9 seasons and in 232 in MetLife Stadium for 7 seasons, those participating in the chant have been buzzed. The rest of us were not. Those are my observations. If they differ from your perspective perhaps it is because we sit in different locations. I generalize. There are exceptions. I do not name call people or label people unless they do it to me persistently. Sometimes it is not fun being labeled a "disconnected rich PSL owner". Sometimes we push back. I was labeled a "PSL pussy" on Page 1 of this thread. Those whose fandom I challenge are those who are not season ticket holders and do not attend games yet hold the rest of us in judgment as if our cheering isn't loud enough for their liking or the non-Jets fans in the seats are our responsibility when it is they themselves who do not bother to support the team by attending games regularly. Season ticket holders responsibility and demonstration of loyalty ends when we write our hefty checks in April. From that point forward, we attend games at our discretion, schedules permitting. If the Jets don't give a crap about how badly they are playing, no one can blame fans for not giving a crap about attending. I am one of the few people who defend our stadium, our season ticket holders, and our ownership. If these are not popular views I can understand that, but they are far from negative, quite the opposite. SAR I

SAR I SAR I with all due respect and no offense to any season ticket holder but the fans have not spoken and thats the problem they sit silent many there to pass time. Ever since Fireman Ed retired the ill fated attempt to keep the chant going has been piss poor. The stadium would rather pulverize our ear drums with rap music/rock music or play advertisements than get the crowd involved with the game. The stadium is dead the atmosphere isn't the same as it once was regardless of your opinion the fans arent the same. Fans sit and stare into cell phones instead of standing and cheering on 3rd down. They pay little or no attention and show more emotion when the t-shirt shooters come out. The chant needs to return Fireman Ed needs to return if you want an opera type atmosphere go there we need the 12th man back we need something to cheer about. Good post and yes, when there is a better product on the field things may improve. I can only speak for myself, but rivals aren't outbidding Jets fans when my seats are usually available below face value. What's happening is that Jets fans are simply choosing not to buy tickets on the secondary market at all. As a fan who goes to games I cannot explain why there are so many Jets fans within 60 minutes of the stadium who choose not to go. You'd have to ask them. As for the amount of visiting fans in the stadium, it boils down to a few things but what most fail to remember is: 1. All NFL teams have the same 10% of bodies in their buildings wearing enemy colors. Traveling to road games is a lot of fun and tickets have never been more accessible or inexpensive before. 2. New York City is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, certainly in the USA, and if you're an NFL fan and your team is visiting and you're into Central Park in Autumn, Broadway in the Fall, Rockerfeller Center at Christmas, or the myriad of other sites to see in Manhattan that overlap the season, its a cheap flight and a lot of fun. We live here, we're jaded. Ask a fan from Seattle or Cincinnati and they're pumped to see their teams play here, it's akin to how we feel playing in London or Green Bay, it's a tempting road trip for the guys or an inexpensive vacation for the family. Warfish
Given how much B.S. loud yammering comes from the PA in a modern NFL Stadium, one might think the Jets themselves would foster/lead the JETS chant. In other stadiums with chants (of a sort) they PA system of major loudness +2 leads the various chants. It figures the Jets cannot even get this small thing right. Fans are sheep, and they'll chant if led, frankly. Th team would just need to program in the chant to it's littany of existing yapping.
