Playoff drought watch

The 3 longest playoff droughts in the NFL are, currently:

  1. Browns:  18 years (2002)
  2. Buccaneers:  13 years (2007)
  3. Jets:  10 years (2010)

The Browns improved to 7-3 today.  They are now in a 4-way tie for 3rd place in the AFC.

The Buccaneers (7-3) look to improve to 8-3 on MNF against the Rams.

Should both the Browns and Bucs reach the playoffs, the Jets (officially eliminated from playoff contention today) will have the longest current playoff drought in the league.

Thanks, Johnsons.

GO RAMS. The refs are not letting Shady get breathed on, period. Would someone just please make a real penalty - not an imaginary one - worth it and knock out a couple of his teeth or at least give this cheating POS a bloody lip. Take the fine for the victims of ill-gotten gains everywhere.

How Aaron Donald wasn't able to touch Brady at all in the latest Pats-Rams SB matchup was shady as f**k.  I hope he massacres him tonight.

UPDATES

  • The Browns (9-3) won their 4th straight contest, and now sit in 3rd place in the AFC standings.  They are a virtual lock to reach the postseason, which would end their 18-year playoff drought.
  • The Buccaneers (7-5) were on bye this week, and next face the Vikings (6-6) at home next Sunday in a crucial contest.  Coming off 2 straight losses, their postseason chances are no longer secured, though they do sit in 5th place in the NFC.  A win over the Vikings would go a long way toward ending their 13-year playoff drought.

As noted in the OP, if these two teams both make the playoffs, the Jets will have the longest active playoff drought in the NFL.

Thanks, Johnson's.

I'm def. starting to worry about the Browns already being locked in by week 16...I know it's the second to last game but right now everything worries me.

What's crazy is that dating back to the last time the Buccaneers made the playoffs they've had 3 winning seasons of 9-7 (2008), 10-6 (2010) and 9-7 (2016) but yet still failed to make the playoffs (those 3 years) due to a loaded division/conference.

The Jets have missed the playoffs 4 times with 9 or more wins since 1997.

The Jets will be #1 on this list soon but hopefully a year from now they can get off of it.

Hopefully Woody is back in a few weeks, Christopher Johnson has destroyed the franchise.

You mean thanks Christopher Johnson.

Amazingly in 16 years with Woody running the franchise the Jets never had back to back losing seasons while in 4 years under Christopher they have had 4 losing seasons with the best season, by far, being the Adam Gase led 7-9 2019 season.

So, the answer to turn this thing around is the return of both Woody and Gase?

THEY ARE GREAT OWNERS THOUGH. THE RECORD WITH THEM IS AMAZING. IT TAKES TIME.

Ah, I have to run to a meeting.

If only there was another poster here that could finish this post for me, LOL.

Here is the entire list.

One interesting thing I noticed, say we make the playoffs in the next 2-3 years, Arizona probably will as well, this would make the parity in the NFL the closest it's ever been, which is kind of cool.

UPDATE:  The Buccaneers clinched a playoff spot last week.  Once the Browns clinch theirs this week, the Jets will be alone with the longest playoff drought in the NFL.

At least we haven't gone 25 years without a single playoff win (Buffalo).

??‍♂️?
