"Out of nowhere" - Who are your favorite long-shots?

Recommended Posts

It happens every year. The top half of the draft is easy to talk about, but for decades we've seen low pick and UDFAs have a huge impact on your league.

So, let's have a little "call your shot" fun. No need to debate, just put it out there. Pick ONE GUY who is going to shock us all at every spot... and I'm not talking about a bunch of "2nd round sleepers". I'm talking about real long-shots... think of guys that are projected after the 4th round.

Offense:

  1. OL
  2. WR
  3. TE
  4. RB
  5. QB

Defense & S/T:

  1. DL/EDGE
  2. LB
  3. S
  4. CB
  5. Special teamer

Offense:

  1. OL: Jimmy Morissey (something just feels right when I read/watch, he's a center)
  2. WR: Shi Smith (discovered him in the JN draft and am stuck on him)
  3. TE: Zach Davidson (JN draftniks sold me on this one)
  4. RB: Khalil Herbert (broad skillset, we've drafted worse RBs higher)
  5. QB: Kyle Trask (QB depth is slight, even as a 2nd-3rd rounder he's a long shot to me - but I think he ends up better than 3 of the 5 first round guys)

Defense & S/T:

  1. DL/EDGE: Victor Dimukeje (another discovery from the JN draft)
  2. LB: Derrick Barnes (I have no explanation for why I'm fixated on him)
  3. S: JaCoby Stevens (I like the hybrid in him, I think a good D coach will use him right)
  4. CB: Michael Carter II (this draft is loaded with slot WRs, but I think there's some really good slot CBs as well)
  5. Special teamer: Tre Brown, CB (effort guy)

Offense:

  1. OL: Kayode Awosika (Nasty run blocker, probably has a shot at guard)
  2. WR: Jacob Harris. (Might be a move TE but tested well athletically. Could be a possession WR at worst.
  3. TE: Zach Davidson (Stealing this one too. Not overly athletic but consistently gets separation.)
  4. RB: Chris Evans (Athletic upside)
  5. QB: Jamie Newman (Might not ever get there but has interesting tools and is raw)

Defense & S/T:

  1. DL/EDGE:  Marvin Wilson (Not sure where he ends up landing, Had a down 2020 but was dominant at times in 2018-2019).
  2. LB: Charles Snowden
  3. S: Divine Deablo (Safety/linebacker type)
  4. CB: Camryn Bynum
  5. Special teamer: Kene Nwangwu

Offense

OL- Robert Hainsey, Notre Dame, Captain, multi-year starter, decent athlete, 10 year starter at G as a pro

WR - Austin Watkins, UAB, won’t set the world on fire but he might be Jericho Cotchery

TE- Noah Gray and Zach Davidson, I like Noah Gray as a FB hybrid type and Davidson as a Flex dude.

RB- Kene Nwangwu, Iowa State, I think he’s got a bit extra juice compared to other prospects. I also like Herbert.

QB- Davis Mills,Stanford,  I don’t think highly of him but whatever

Defense

DL/ Edge- Tommy Togiai, Ohio State, I think he’s gonna be a stud, like best DT in this draft good, I also like Dayo Odeyingbo and Cam Sample a lot

LB- Divine Deablo, Va Tech, I think he’s gonna a WILL in the NFL and he might turn heads from day 1.

Safety- Tyree Gillespie, Mizzou, He’ll be like a late round Marcus Maye.

CB- Tre Brown, Oklahoma, I think he’s got the right mentality for a CB and he’ll be able to go outside because he’s so physical.

Jets are eyeing Stevens. Would be a good pick.
