Aaron Rodgers traded to the New York Jets

Recommended Posts

So let's call it what it is.  The Jets caved.

There was talk about switching #13 for 15 or giving up the #42 pick.  We gave both.  There was talk that a 2024 second rounder that was conditional to become a #1 but that we would get back a third rounder if Rodgers didn't play in 2024.  Again, the condition is he plays 65% of the snaps!  Not that we make the playoffs!!!!!  And no compensation if he walks after 1 year and destroys 2 years cap!!!!

It will be great to have a true quality quarterback but if we were prepared to overpay this much, the deal should have been done long ago.  They are celebrating in cheese-land.

Sounds like he's just referring to the difference in cap hit for pre and post June first trade to me.

He’s due a huge payment soon, no ?  Eating that would not be a technicality and the resulting 15 million cap hit for this year is what I’m looking at.  Eating that would explain the draft picks.

The packers always had the hammer. I’ve been saying it for weeks. The only people surprised by this didn’t read the table correctly

Not sure I follow your point.  Not being disrespectful or arguing, but not getting your point. GB does have 2 5ths so not sure which one (I used higher of the 2 picks # 149) but math looks right based on this chart

https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=Gb

Net loss in terms of picks (not counting 1st round swap and mid round swap) is #43 this year and call it a 1 next year. Yes, a high 2 this year but we did not give up a #1 this year. So a high 2 and a 1 next year is the cost for Rodgers. If his cap is reworked to give us some flexibility AND he plays in 2024, I think we all would have signed for that (unless you really wanted Carr) when this was proposed 2 months ago.

Not saying it's a steal for us but it is a fair trade

It’s pick 170 from GB for Jets 207

You don’t know what he told the Jets about his plans

Does he not have $40m+ for ‘24?

I’d like to see the Jets have a 4,000 yard passer. We had the first one (and our last one) in pro football with Joe Willie and are only one of two non-expansion teams to not have one since merger (other being Chicago).

Good bet we finally have an offense that scares opponents.

Basically, Jets had to give up:

‘23 3rd rounder + Elijah Moore (=> pick #42)

1st round pick swap

’24 1st rounder

If Elijah Moore ends up being a bust, the trade won’t look all that bad.

AR better play at least 2 seasons.

Going on the TB12 diet wouldn’t hurt either.  Whatever it takes for him to maintain an elite level of play in his 40s.

They caved so much they are now super bowl contenders and basically gave up two twos... Rodgers has said he wants to play into his 40s

Who cares dude

Leave it to Jets fans to poo poo the Jets bringing in a motivated Aaron Rodgers. Such a miserable lot.

Drafting a historic bust with our highest pick in 30 years has consequences. Glad to see this regime has a will to try to win.

Amazing fan base, Rogers comes to the Jets, folks complain.  Like a decade of not making the playoffs wasn't enough.

If the Jets win the SB, twice some will say it wasn't worth it cause we gave up picks that could impact the team in 2035.

A Venn diagram of Zach’s most ardent defenders and those complaining about getting Rodgers is a circle.

Good grief, nobody will be saying that
