Wonder if we can keep all three being that eventually we’re gonna have to pay sauce. Reed the smart move tbh is probably leave alone; he's signed through 2024 and turns 29 in 2025, so independent of the season he has this year or next it'll probably be cheaper to wait. Few other suitors are going to be falling over themselves to offer an elite-level CB new contract to a 29 year old corner. Worst time (i.e. most expensive time) to work out an extension, from this point forward, is when he's still 28 and healthy and having a stellar season. Sometimes when you get someone on a great deal for the team you let it happen and play out. Injuries notwithstanding, he's not going to be a starter in this league as long as the other two. Carter is one they should at least kick the tires with his agent to get in early (reward for the player is he was a mid-round pick and if he gets a bad injury he could miss what would've been his one & only big payday contract). Otherwise, unless they make him a true starter's offer, with the idea it's Sauce + Carter + another rookie-contract corner, there's a good chance they lose him after '24. What'll bother me to no end is if we lose him to stick with CJM for one more season at yet another $17MM, but if/when he reaches UFA status Carter is surely going to get some team to offer him more than just a regular NB contract. Get that early confidence going with Zach with completions. LAs D besides at DE is rather weak. So attack that secondary and LB group. Take some shots down field. Yeah, I don't love everything PFF does, but they have tons of data that you can't get anywhere else. I think some people have a hard time admitting there's somebody/something out there that they have to consult for info because they don't know it themselves.
