T0mShane
Summary: Kahler asked Caleb’s dad why he hasn’t submitted the paperwork yet and the dad referred her to the publicist who had no comment. Williams hasn’t hired an agent yet. Kahler confirms the report that Williams wanted equity in the team he gets drafted to. 1
T0mShane
Worth noting: Stephen Ross was rumored to have offered Tom Brady equity in the Dolphins during the failed Brady-Payton package deal they had in place before McDaniel was hired. Caleb Williams has previously said that the NFL team he’d most like to play for is the Miami Dolphins.

Popular Post Guilhermezmc
Call me crazy but im really not that high in this guy, running around for 10 seconds before throwing the ball is not something that will translate to the NFL and that seems to be his biggest calling card.
derp
I don't entirely understand the purpose unless he's angling for a trade before the deadline or just making it clear he's going to be difficult. Doesn't seem like a good plan.

Doesn't seem like a good plan. He’s a little extreme and will probably look to pick his spot. Possible he just wants to ensure that he ends up in Washington, where he’s from, but I guess I can sympathize with a management group trying to save him from a bad situation. https://www.gq.com/story/caleb-williams-profile
Lith
The other variable here is NIL. He may be able to make as much or more money staying in school than he would earn in his first year of a rookie contract. On the other hand, this is the only year when he can use the leverage of staying in school to try to force a trade. Will be interesting to watch this one play out.

Just enter the draft now and say it later. Or go back to school.

That decision sent ripples throughout the NFL that are still being felt to this day. Eli Manning https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/eli-manning-finally-reveals-why-he-refused-to-play-for-chargers-after-they-took-him-with-the-top-pick-in-2004/ Quote "It was my decision having talked with my agent, coaches, [general managers] and owners," Manning said. "Going through the draft process, I was just worried about the Chargers organization at the time. I felt it was the right decision and I had a little pull. I quietly tried to say 'Hey, please don't draft me, it can be our secret,' and they didn't keep the secret part very well." John Elway https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1614794-john-elways-controversial-draft-day-saga-relived-in-espns-30-for-30-special Quote He didn't want to play for the Colts—a team that hadn't had success for quite some time—and had warned the team not to select him with the first overall pick.

Your opinion on him as a prospect is fine but others do regard him in the same conversation as these guys. There was debate about Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning at #1 overall. There is precedent for this type of move for a QB projected at the top of the draft. I disagree that it's a red flag and makes him a huge pussy. Fair, I can see how that is the impression but I thought he was a future bust, huge pussy, w/ red flags prior to this report so this just made it worse, IMO because no where on earth, is he in the same conversation as these dudes. Nobody has him in that conversation, not sure where you're getting that from, he's a highly flawed and tiny. And I dont know how you could say there is a precedent. It happened 3 times in how many years of the draft? Once w/ Elway which was somewhat unique because of his baseball desires and then the Manning's, who are NFL royalty and technically, nothing happened w/ Peyton. That's it. Williams, doesnt have near the pedigree, nor the generational label to pull this flex move.

Just showing an example of him being considered that type of prospect. I have a much higher opinion of Caleb than you do but would never say he's a better prospect than Peyton Manning like Spielman did. Drafting a bust at 12 overall doesn't invalidate your ability to evaluate QBs IMO. People draft bust QBs in the first all the time. Small sample size of 1 there and I doubt he was comparing Ponder to Manning & Elway.
derp
Him going to Washington makes sense. Imagine if the Bears can get a haul from the Commanders and drop one spot. They’ll build a dynasty just moving off #1 picks.
bonkertons
I really hope he declares, if only just so we don't get ****ed. If he's not in the draft, everyone else bumps up a spot. It's not like Penix would suddenly be a top-3 pick. Right now there's a chance one of Odunze, Bowers, or a LT will be there at 10. A pretty good chance IMO, and it will most likely be one of the receivers. If there's no Caleb, there's probably no chance we get one of these guys. It's pretty much a lock it'll be Fuaga at that point. All that said, I'll be shocked if he doesn't declare.
SickJetFan
This is starting to sound like the drama from last year and Stroud. No way he does supplemental and no way he does not declare and USC already have their heir apparent.

Remember when Lawrence was going to pull a flex on the Jets and/or Jags? Was never going to happen w/ for a 5'10 pip squeak who holds the ball for 10 minutes and runs around like a headless chicken before throwing the ball up in the general direction of a receiver like it's a game of five hundred.
JiFtheOracle
Pretty wild though, if some team wants to set their franchise back 5 years and take Caleb Williams at #1, that will be the third 1st overall pick that Lincoln Riley has coached...that has to be a record for a college coach. maury77
I understand Caleb Williams ended the year on a down note and I've had concerns about his ability to play in structure, but to call him a guaranteed bust is over the top IMO. The kid dominated college football since he stepped on the field at OU.

He's so ridiculously flawed it's incredible. It's Zach Wilson all over again but even smaller and w/ worse mechanics, worse tendencies and even stronger passion for holding the ball, forever! Literally, I've never seen a college Football QB hold the ball for as long as he does. Series question - how did he "dominate" college Football, in your estimation? What did he win of significance to become "dominant", other than an individual trophy? What was his big calling card game that you can point your finger at and say, see, dude has it? What was his big win, when did his team exceed expectations and/or USC win in an upset? Because I'm going to respectfully disagree that a QB who loses to Tulane in a Bowl game, is 0-3 vs. Utah, and lost his last 5 of 6 starts, is not a dominate figure in college Football.
