Yep Social Distortion was heavily influenced by Johnny Cash and Buck Owen's "Bakersfield Sound". You also forgot to mention George Jones and Glenn Campbell. My dad was a trucker so I heard many of the artists you mentioned. He also like Merle Haggard and Emmy Lou Harris who was more folk than country though.

I cant mention Glenn Campbell becaues RhineStone Cowboy is seizure inducing.  But yes, good call outs.

Get past the "Rhinestone Cowboy" and he had some good music. Oh and one of the better titles was from Mickey Gilley.

Lainey Wilson, isn't too bad, although my Ladyfriend says my like for her music is her ummm, assets. And finally Carrie Underwood did a good cover of "Ace of Spades" so she's at least somewhat cool there.

I hated Rhinestone cowboy but he did a lot of just tremendous songs.   Great vocalist, sensational guitarist.

Idk man. I just dont like coutry particularly modern country. Try old school george straits. Not a fan but hes more tolerable

Love George Strait. Johnny Cash is the best.

I was a huge fan of country like 15 years ago, I still am. Tim McGraw and a bunch of artists. Today though it sounds more like pop.

George Strait, his songs had meaning.

It’s an acquired taste for sure, but after ignoring country for most of my life, I’ve come to appreciate and enjoy it. Try Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Strait, George Jones, Garth Brooks.

I am not much of a country music fan -- okay I am not a fan of the genre at all.  But in September I have tickets for the Outlaw Music Festival, featuring Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp.  I am really going to see Dylan and Mellencamp, but I am also hoping to see Willie as well -- he has missed a few shows due to illness.

At 91, I have to give him credit that he is still touring.

Thanks, I am just hoping Nelson's health holds up, he was just cleared to return to the tour.  Also, just saw the Stones last week at Soldier Field - so that should be 3 legends for the summer.

Same.  Everyone told me I'd like him and I'm like nope.  I get it, he's more soul full then these other dweebs but still awful.

Oh, the worst song in the history of music;

Wagon Wheel.

holy sh*t, I want to blow my brains out every time I hear it.

""Wagon Wheel" is a song co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show.[2] Dylan recorded the chorus in 1973; Secor added verses 25 years later. Old Crow Medicine Show's final version was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in April 2013. The song has been covered numerous times, including charting versions by Nathan Carter in 2012 and Darius Rucker in 2013.[3]"

I'm not really a Bob Dylan fan, I appreciate him but I cant listen to him, not a fan of his style folk music or his voice but obviously an incredible song writer and musical influence but he doesnt do it for me.  I saw him concert back in the 90's and it was awful.  So this adds up.

Indeed.  They did a cover of Ring of Fire that's a banger.

Chris Stapleton is about the only modern country artist worth listening to.

The rest just seem to write songs about having a good time, rather than writing a good song.

Tuns out he's coming to London in Oct.  Thinking about going but not sure it's my idea of great live music.  I've only ever gone to metal/rock concerts.

What are the prices looking like?  If they're reasonable why not!

Last time I looked they were just under 200 per ticket for where I was looking to sit.

I consider Zach Bryan Alt Country and he freaking rules.

Glenn Campbell has a bunch of bangers and even more interesting is how all the 60s/70s soul groups loved to cover his songs...what a weird but an amazing thing. Look up the Dells version of Wichita Lineman, it will blow your mind.

Agree with everyone on Stapleton...Tennessee Whiskey was interesting but they forced him upon us so quick and it was weird af. Like to hear him all over adult alternative radio nowadays...idk its just odd.

Saw the show last night.  Willie Nelson was great.  Like I said, I am not much of a country music fan, but I really enjoyed Willie's vocals, the way he connected with the audience. You know when you are watching a great, natural entertainer and at 91, Willie sounded great -- vocals and his guitar playing.  It was an awesome set.

Dylan, on the other hand was terrible.  I knew enough about his live performances to know not to expect a greatest hits set, and pretty much when you see Dylan you either love him or hate him -- I know where I stand.  I was really looking forward to the show, but it was disappointing.  He never once acknowledged his audience.  Vocals were incomprehensible.  Arrangements were so bizarre that it was hard to tell what he was playing even when he did a couple of his better known songs..  Most of the reviews of his shows over the past two to three months have been positive, so what do I know.

I am glad he was performing with Nelson and Mellencamp, so at least I was entertained for 2/3 of the night.
