With one game left, there doesn’t seem to be much point.  If he were to play, I would’ve liked him in the second game for maybe a quarter.

Look, he spends much of his days breaking down how he handled his 2nd shot on that long par 4 at the club. Doesn't leave much time to run the stadium or pretend to have a clue what Rodgers and Hackett are doing with the offense.

But playing in the pre-season does not count towards season wins, so it's UNNECESSARY for him to play in them. There is still chance of him getting injured, remote as it is, playing in the pre-season, which is more than zero % chance when he doesn't play in them. It's NECESSARY for him to play in the regular season for the best chance for official wins, so you accept the remote chance of injury.

Playing in the preseason helps prepare players for playing in the regular season. It is only unnecessary if you think winning week 1 is not important. 

Rodgers hasn't played in a year and has barely practiced in the last couple of weeks.

Hypothetically. You're bringing up the other side of the risk/reward argument. Whenever players are on the field, whether practicing or playing, the hope is for them to be prepared mentally and physically to succeed in their assignments. The pre-season games are not NECESSARY towards this goal; they may help, some more than others. As long as they're prepared mentally and physically!

Can’t help but think giving two QBs who are probably not NfL players the entirety of the game reps with Corley, Brownlee etc is a waste of time. Did the Jets not know how injured Travis was? Watching Hooker Milton etc play and get a ton of snaps with their young guys means something. Salehfor whatever reason has little to no interest in the preseason. Same thing with Boyle last year.
