Maxman
It is the age old debate. Let's go back to the Dan Marino discussion. How great would Dan have been had he played for the Jets? Not sure if Gary noticed but Matt has a weapon or two in Arizona.

OTOH, I think Gary Meyers is an idiot.

#27TheDominator
It's one man's opinion. Whether it is any more informed or agenda slanted, I could not say. In that regard it's a good article. Leinart hits and in five years he can pull this out of his ass and say "I told you so." Same thing with guys touting Young and Cutler or Jaworski with Clemens. It's a little early to rate any of them beyond where they went in the draft. Barton constantly ripping Chad has a better chance of success because our offense will undoubtedly be bad no matter who is at the helm.

If Walton didn't have some good defensive coordinators we'd have been totally dead. I thought Walton was the worst. Then we hired Kotite... jets22
that's an easy way to go as a journalist......Myers sucks. things would be totally diffrent for Lienart in NYC. the pressure alone would make a world of diffrence. and I agree It was only one game, a preseason one at that !!! Not sure if Gary noticed but Matt has a weapon or two in Arizona. I find it amusing he writes this when most experts agree almost to a man that you judge the success of a draft after 3 seasons. Gary has it all figured out after 3 pre season games.
Barton
Gary Myers wouldnt know football if one hit him in the face. 1 preseason game, and Leinart is awesome? Count me in for thinking Leinart will have a few good games as a pro too! I'd lke to punch Myers right in the mouth.

KINGDIRK
I respect Myers's opinion. Hes high on Leinart. Dan Marino would have done JUST FINE (lol) on the Jets. Anyone who says otherwise is clueless. ...I dont think Leinart is made for the east coast. I think hes a perfect West Coast QB (not system...but weather). On the Jets he'd play 8 games in the windy Meadowlands, 1 at Buff, 1 at New England. Thats 10 games a year. Out west, 8 games in the desert, a couple of dome games. Leinart will be solid. Clemens better be!
BwanaZulia
Lets put Leinart in the Hall Of Fame after a half of an exhibition game already D'Brick is a bust. Lionhart is getting his bust done for Canton. Oh wait, neither has played a down. Wake me in three years to have this discussion. BZ
elvismax
Leinart, although not happy that he dropped, with Arizona's Wr's, Edgerrin James, Warm climate, and Kurt Warner ahead of him (albeit temporarily), he couldn't have ended up in a better scenario for him to succeed, which may drive us Jets fans crazy for years. I believe the Jets were right in drafting D'Brickashaw, although I remember seeing it mentioned that the Jets were talking about packaging their 1st & 2nd for Leinart at
Pragmatic Bus
to those people who are second guessing the decision not to draft linehardt. are forgetting some things. 1. jay cutler has outperformed linehardt 2. it preseason 3. he's playing against second stringers. 4. he's playing in a dome in nice warm conditions with no wind. 5. nobody questions his skills it's his arm strength that worry some people i wanna see him play in chicago or medowlands. Amen to that. I'm convinced these people are more Mangini fans than Jets fans. They like Eric Mangini - Mike Tan so much and want so bad to see them succeed that they will find any excuse or rationalization for their mistakes. Even passing over a franchise QB for an Offensive Tackle we could have easily had at 29 or 35.
