Two pennant races and tc going on at the same time.

This will be a very decent summer.

August in a pennant race is like Saturday in a golf tourney- it's movement day- position yourself for the final round. Lots can happen.

Would you Yankee fans like a happy ending with this post? Im sure the author would gladly oblige free of charge.

WTF is wrong with you? The Yankees have been playing very well since the All Star break and have cut the Sox lead down to 6.5 games.

Did you forget, Sox fans aren't supposed to speak any good about the Yankees even if it's true, your only supposed to bad talk them, no matter how unfunny or antagonistic it may be.

My bad. The Yankees suck and Jet*/BosoxFan speaks for all of us who support the local 9 in Boston.

*Not a Jets fan.

I know you cant win every game, but we cant afford to have Igawa in this rotation, or on this team at all for that matter, anymore.

Hughes' next start should be in the Bronx. And Igawa should be sent down.

Does anyone know if Hughes is going to be brought up to take Igawas place, after today?

Yes....Joe all but said so to Franseca today. He couldn't actually come right out and state it with Kei scheduled to start tonight but Hughes will be in the rotation next time through.

Hughes should have been here for todays game, after his start last friday. Typical kid glove bullcrap while Igawa is stinkin up the joint. The Yankees are in no position to be pissing games away any more.

True but Torre doesn't make that decision....the people who actually watch Hughes do.

Maybe it's the same guy who scouted Igawa???

Anyway it wouldn't have mattered as Yanks failed to score last night. The schedule remains soft right now and unless Farnsworth is allowed to perform his magic when the suspended Oriole game resumes,(Yanks up by 2) there's a quick W for the Yanks.

Scheule works both ways-Sawx have 15 left with the Rays, the Yankees only 6. But Yanks' September schedule is almost all Rays/Os/Jays the last 2 weeks of the season.

And they may need a roll like they are on now (.750 baseball) to wrap it up, although I believe they will be ahead of the pack in the WC race by then.

per rotoworld:

Yankees optioned LHP Kei Igawa to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The loss last night dropped Igawa to 2-3 with a 6.79 ERA. While they won't confirm it yet, the Yankees are planning to skip the fifth starter around Monday's off day and go to Phil Hughes next weekend.

13-6.

Thought Yanks would get to the Bird's pen and win it last night. Indians lost so not so bad.

O's threw a couple of good pitchers the last few nights .......shoot for a win today followed by 2 of 3 against the WSox and than Yanks get KC again (sweep) before returning to upper tier competition.

I just took a look at the Yankees schedule. Starting August 10th this is the lineup of series:

3 in Cleveland

3 at home against Baltimore

4 at home against Detroit

3 in Anahiem

4 in Detriot

3 at home against Boston

Damn. That's nasty.
