Dewayne Roberterson was Tannenbaum's choice with the fourth pick and then he tried to trade up to No. 9 to draft ... Matt Leinart. So, now, why would Tannenbaum's view have changed? Rex Ryan would seem to like Cutler's arm to cut through the Meadowlands' winds, but not his gunslinger attitude. Ryan seems to want a quarterback that will serve as the leader of a four-corners offense until his defense can return to the field. Now, though, there is pressure by some for the Jets to go hard after Cutler. The price will reportedly be steep -- first, second, a quarterback and another player. The Jets don't seem to have the desire to do that; nor do they seem to have a desparate feeling they need a quarterback. IMHO, anybody (Jet fan or Jet hater) should be insulted that somebody like this gets paid to talk about football when most people on here (again, Jet fans and Jet haters) could talk football, give their opinions, and at least do their homework. Opinions are one thing (everybody has an opinion) but if you're going to write an article, at least do your homework on how the team got to this point. ("So, now, why would Tannenbaum's view have changed?"). What has changed is that it is now known that a high-risk pick in Jay Cutler from the great NFL QB factory that is Vanderbilt, is not a bust. Beyond not being a bust, he also does not need to go through a rookie's learning curve for the first few seasons (particularly a QB's rookie season). I would expect every team to get a similar write-up for every FA that they acquired after passing over that player in the NFL draft. - Hey, if the Patriots wanted Randy Moss so badly, why on earth didn't they draft him instead of Robert Edwards? - That same year, why were the Pats suddenly willing to trade 2nd & 7th round draft picks to division rival Miami for undrafted Wes Welker instead of burning a 2004 7th round pick on the great Christian Morton who they cut before the season started? - If the Saints wanted Jeremy Shockey, why didn't they just draft him instead of Donte Stallworth? Why would they suddenly want to give up a 2nd and 5th round draft picks for years later? - If the Redskins wanted Clinton Portis, in 2002 why didn't they just trade up 5 spots from late in round two & draft him instead of settling on Ladell Betts & then having to surrender Champ Bailey to get Portis 2 years later? - If Seattle wanted Deion Branch, why would they have suddenly traded a 1st round pick for him after opting for Anton Palepoi in round 2 of the 2002 draft? - If Green Bay wanted Brett Favre, why didn't they just draft him when they had the chance instead of trading a 1st round pick away a year later before he started a single game?
