ESPN NFL insider Adam Caplan is reporting that the New York Jets are expected to sign free agent inside linebacker Joe Mays sometime next week.

Mays, a former sixth-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2008 draft spent 2014 as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs where he played in 8 games, recording 20 tackles and a fumble recovery.

General Manager Mike Maccagnan is familiar with Mays who spent 2013 in with the Houston Texans while Maccagnan was a member of their personnel department.

With the recent addition of linebackers Erin Henderson and Jamari Lattimore, the Jets have assembled an impressive level of depth at the inside linebacker position behind David Harris and Demario Davis.

Could Demario be on his way out in a trade?

Our fans are so abused that the minute we accumulate a surplus of talent at any position group, the inclination is to wonder how we will trade the talent away in order to go back to being without.
