David Harris is pretty awesome

Haven't seen #52 get any love on the boards either this season or over the past few years.  A lot of the know-it-alls around here dismissed him as overpaid and slow.  Yes, maybe his contract is a bit bloated.  But this man is an absolute tackling machine, and he looks a LOT faster this year.

David Harris is one of the best MLB's in NYJ history.  Yep.

Well he definitely had a couple of down years prior to this season, but he's looking like the Harris we all remember from his younger days out there again.  I think Scott had become a liability more than anything out there and it certainly wasn't helping Harris, while Davis seems to have been a boost to this entire LB corps and brings some serious f'n speed to the group.

Also, as others mentioned, the weight-loss seems to have helped Harris a bit, but I think the biggest factor has been this DL.  They are playing lights out and it is letting all of the LBs make more plays all over the field.  When you don't constantly have OL peeling off and cracking you in the mouth play after play, it makes a huge difference.  It's not just Harris either as, despite his age, even Pace has been looking better out there than he did these past couple of years.

Yes he is.. I am sure having Demario Davis and not to mention the d-line helps

It is all about the guys up front. Without them spending most of the night behind the line of scrimmage and taking up blockers, Harris would get exposed for being too slow in coverage.

He's a very good ILB for us, but as is the case for most positions, our ability to maximize on his strengths is directly tied to the success of the parts around him.

He looks quicker, and I love how he punishes anyone who gets near him every time.

This I've noticed, he's finishing tackles the way he did in his early years - that's an aspect of his game that hand diminished and has returned for sure.

Remember him in Rex's first game here, vs. the Texans he straight trucked some guy. I'll see if I can find the video, I think I've posted it before.

Harris had a monster game, but i agree Demario's presence and that Dline especially MO/Beast. helps alot. Quinton Coples had a vernon gholston type game, with 0-0-0. but im a say its gotta be due to his injury, because he's been contributing and making plays.

D. Harris is underrated because he isnt a vocal type player, he does his talking on the field. Ill take Harris over P. Willis, even though Willis is considered all pro.

May be its the transition from D-line to OLB, hopefully he gets some success shortly.

Coples had two QB hits, they don't look like much on the stat sheet, but they leave an impression on QB's

Go and look at the picture of the goal line stand stop.  Richardson got the tackle, but look at the RB's feet and see who stood him up and turned him around so Richardson could make the tackle.

It's # 98

true that. Like rex says. sometimes when u hit the QB the whole team feels it. Coples is gonna be a good player for the JETS. not a mo but he gonna be a game changer on some of his games

Its a team game , some due the dirty work for others to get the GLory. im not doging Coples, he's gonna have his multiple sack games, and plays behind the line. he had a real good game when he came back from his injury. Im just expecting a little more from him, with the talent he got around him. mo Harris Demario , Sheldon, Snacks. cant double team everybody.

Harris is one of the best against the run. We all know he lacks in pass coverage, so why is he on the field in all passing situations? It might be because we don't have any LB reserves that are pass coverage specialists or any decent back up DBs that could do any better in a dime formation. At least Harris can make the tackle after the TE catches it.

Not sure he's underrated - he gets paid like he's overrated, and most people appreciate what he's good at - while still being able to recognize the areas of his game that aren't strong.

I'd take Patrick Willis 99 times out of a 100 though, and it's got nothing to do with being vocal.

I agree with you on Coples. I would much rather see him consistent, with moments of greatness, than have super hot moments of greatness every couple of weeks and no production on others. You cant plan like that.

I'm confused, & wonder if some of us watched the same game.

Harris had a couple of nice tackles (the "OOOOOH" big hit type, where a lesser tackle wouldn't have been as entertaining but still would have done an equally effective job).  He also committed a couple of bad penalties, couldn't do even a half-assed job in coverage, and whiffed on a couple of tackles.

In no universe is he underrated, particularly since he's getting a franchise QB's salary.

I'm not even sure if he's worth the $7M or so he's due next season.  Probably not, unless we literally can't find a suitable replacement.  Then again if the decision is close, and we keep him for that one last season, we get a compensatory pick if he plays out and signs elsewhere.
