vincenzo69
Philbin's done a good job this season and Tannehill's looking like the second best qb in the AFC East. The next 4-5 years are going to be brutal for this organization unless Woody grows some hair on his balls and fires Idzik.

Philbin should have had to make the playoffs to keep his job. Instead his team got eliminated a week earlier this year than last. You know what's a bad sign for the Dolphins? The fact that I am thrilled that Joe Philbin will be returning as their head coach.
Blackout
Miami is going to be pretty good next year. So is Buffalo if they get a real QB.

jamesr
Saw this on NFL.com : The Dolphins have scored more than 30 points five times under Lazor this year after managing the feat just twice in two seasons under Mike Sherman. I can't even remember when we last scored 30+ points EDIT - had a look, figures that it was last season against the mighty Raiduhs. We also posted 30 against the Patsies & Falcons. Three times in 2 years ...

Philbin has done a very good job under the circumstances(rebuild the oline in one year). losing Lt a Brandon Albert was the biggest blow that they couldn't overcome.( a lot of teams lose their Lt. , and they are going to be in trouble). DaBallhawk
So they're stuck with him for another year because of his contract? Priceless. From what's been reported the players hate the guy, just as much as their fans do. Ross is an imbecile.
JiFtheOracle
He's turning Tannehill into the real deal. Truth is, who cares? The list of Head Coaching candidates is pathetic. They could easily do worse.

They could easily do worse. Grass is always greener. Tannehill is a Pennington with a live arm. If Philbin were coaching the Jets with the same level of "success" we'd all hate him and rightfully so. Klecko73isGod
Tannehill has progressed this year-that is the reason he is staying there. Still can't beat good defenses and shows no signs of ever being able to. He is Chad Pennington with a live arm.

Losing Alpert and Moreno was huge. They only had 3 bad loses and all were to teams in or on the cusp of the playoffs. DT Paul Soliai meant more to that teams D than they thought. My thought was that they inquired back door about harbaugh and were rebuffed. Under Philbin the went 7-9, 8-8 and will likely go 9-7 this year. I know it is only one game a year, but it tough to fire a guy that trends that way.

Klecko73isGod
Bills have a top 5 D. He beat them. That's a sign. That was more due to Orton not moving the ball against the Dolphins defense than anything Tannehill did. Beating the Bills? That's like being the smart kid in the remedial class.
