we have 3 safeties, so something is going to have to give here .  All those TEs are not staying on the roster .

And only 5 CB's with the new guy being 'injured'...so actually 4?

Which is weird, since we signed that CB guy off the Pats' 'waived/injured' list.  Wonder what is wrong/injured?

Just wondering do teams get access to medical records when a player is waived / injured. Allowing a teams medical staff the opportunity to sign off on a possible signing of that player. Trades can be voided pending a physical what is the case when you are required to place a player on your roster. Is the answer just a simple "Buyer be wear"

I would cut Shell.

Hes just eating up a spot, you absolutely can't put him in a game right now.

and I don't believe the payoff, as slim as a chance as it might happen, will be big enough to warrant him taking up a spot on the active roster for a season.

More than likely he'll just get cut like Harrison next year.

i think there's zero chance someone claims him anyway.

K. I would guess a TE gets cut for Richardson then when he comes back

2 TEs will be cut before game 1. Many players will come and go over the next week.

This is why I said not to worry about the final 5 roster spots. This happens every year.

Some will be safe on the 53 until week 1 then put on the practice squad once teams set their rosters.

Maybe, but it's an odd roster. Not too many healthy players worth having on your 53 shake loose after today.

Waiver claims will go in tonight for all the players released for the waiver claims they picked up today.

Then people will try to sneak players onto the practice squad once they believe teams have stopped watching so closely.

He missed the 2015 season with an injured wrist, but apparently he played quite a bit in this pre-season, including Game 4 this past week.  Does not seem to be anything online about a new injury. Not sure what the injury designation could be --- Patriots would never falsify an injury report to try to get a guy onto IR.

LOL...that ain't happening.

But I can easily see the Jets watching Petty very closely this week and if he looks like he's a go in the first week or two, then cutting Geno.  Conversely, if it looks like it'll take 4-6 weeks for Petty to get back, I can see them putting him on whatever injury/IR status until he's ready to return and then cutting Geno at like week 6.

I think the Jets were ready to drop Geno until the Petty injury...I know I may get killed for that response with endless debate but Geno is not going to be here next year in any case and Petty made good strides.  I don't think the Jets want Petty to languish on IR all season, that would serve no one's interests...but they do not want to play Hack this year, and Petty is injured, so it is what it is.

geno is what he is but petty is just not ready. I don't think he took a single snap from under center over the summer.

hack is a 3 year starter who looked like a converted WR out there.  I have never seen a guy panic like that twice in one game.  even sanchez had a good laugh.

you can teach a guy how to read defenses, call audibles, kill a play, but instinct is instinct and he is a blockhead

we have had enough blockheads to last a lifetime around here

Does it really matter that Petty is 'not ready' if Geno 'is what he is' which is bad?  Geno's been here going on 4 yrs now, and like Sanchez, has terrible instincts.

Petty is more 'ready' than Geno at this point IMO.  You can disagree, but what I see with my eyes is that Petty has at least as good of an arm, demonstrates pocket awareness, has a great attitude and an ability to learn...none of which I've seen from Geno...ever.

And if Hack looks like this next preseason, we can talk.  Shell should NOT have been playing LT..they should have split out Iliana and Qvale to RT/LT, and gave Shell some reps at RT.  Hack with limited reps probably knew about 10 plays, and was never intended to play 3+ qtrs.  Give him a year and we can talk.

What exactly happens when someone is injury waived then clears waivers?

My understanding is that they stay on your 'injury' list and you retain their rights.

You can bring them back when healthy, but have to put them on waivers first before activating them to your roster.

So what's the point? Once healthy you have to expose them to the league before they can make your team? I still don't get it.
