Effort and Heart

I know, you're saying "PARTICIPATION TROPHY!" But winning these games is essentially meaningless right now, at least to us. What it does show is that the team has not quit on the head coach, so firing him is is going to be difficult.

Bowles has not seemed outmatched against Belichick in 3 games, so that is a good thing.

Plus Darron Lee and the young players played okay today continuing their development.

And of course there is the simple fact that had the Jets won, people would be whining about Fitz starting again and losing draft pick status. If either way is going to be bad, you need to find a decisive medium where you can swallow and say okay.

its the opposite

they only showed effort going up against a hated rival, but could not muster this effort for the rams or seahawks etc etc

they still haven't showed any heart save Q and Leo

This.  More stinkers are on the way...

it could get real bad now.  this time of the year the teams playing for something usually smoke the teams out of the hunt, but late in the year you get the spoilers who can muster up 1 good game for a rival.  I think it will be miami.

I can see them beating the 9ers and miami, but the 9ers game is a road game so.....

I honestly think the effort and heart with most of the young guys McCaggs has drafted and brought in has been pretty good.  The problem is we don't know (other than Leo) whether any of them can play yet...

Fitz has shown more heart than any three players on the team combined. He has had a bad season but he has put his body on the line to get us first downs, he has taken some pretty nasty hits for us. Love him or hate him this is true.

Agreed guy try's, he's just not very good. It's that fool Bowles, who needs to realise that Petty or Hack need time to play. To see if we have a real QB on the roster or not?

Interesting looking round the league at the other bottom-feeding teams this weekend. All played hard and nearly created upsets - SF were 2 yards shy of tying it up vs. Miami, Chicago had for tries at the end zone to beat the Titans as time was running out, Jax were still trying to win just couldn't execute.

It's as if none of these teams are trying to lose out for a better draft pick next year - the fools!!!

Exactly. Their performance on Sunday was discouraging because if they played this hard all season we wouldn't be in this mess. Just playing up fo rivals is meaningless. Lets see how they play the next few weeks before we proclaim that these guys play hard for Bowles.

Darron Lee is terrible. Plays slow, takes bad angles and tiny. What an awful player.

Yes, the dreaded three hour time difference.  You would think they were flying to play in China on the day of the game with the way this is used as an excuse for a no-show.  The Jets never do well on the west coast, but other team seem to have little problem with it.

Not everyone showed effort. Darrelle Revis clearly has quit on Bowles and so has Mo. Neither of them show any heart or effort whatsoever and that is a clear indication that they don't respect Bowles. Rex the bombastic is what these veterans are used to not Todd the mummy who waits weeks before he puts his foot down with tardiness. Tom Coughlin and Belichick would never allow that to happen ONCE.

Never mind how they play in the next few weeks. These guys have packed it in and I don't expect another win the rest of the way. 3-13 mark it. I don't even expect to beat SF.
