Wonderboy
Put the money where it’s needed most. Clowney is a mediocre edge rusher. Often injured as well. His sack numbers don't warrant that price tag. He’s a good DL, but not worth the money he’s seeking. We have greater needs than DE. We have nothing stable at CB, OL needs significant upgrades, wr’s and an edge that can actually get to the QB. But yea let’s spend 15M per year on a DE after wasting a #3 pick on a DT. Mantra: OL, WR, CB OL, WR, CB OL, WR, CB
Rangers9
If Clowney doesn’t get his number or his years I’ve read he might sign a one year deal and try to have a good year to build back his value. He might be attracted to play for Williams if he feels his defense could spotlight him.

I would love to spend some of the $36m we have available on our offence, but other than o-line depth, I am not sure there is anyone worth pursuing? Some will say Robby, but I think we can get a comparable or better receiver in the third round. Trent Williams? Maybe, but I would prefer to find our long-term answer to tackle at 11. So if OL and WR can be addressed in the draft, other than o-line depth what should we do now with the rest of free agency? I think this is why we are interested in Clowney. We have the cap space and after Young, this is a mediocre draft class for edge rushers.
Barton
At the right price, sure. Be leery though, this is a guy who doesnt play with a fire under his a##. Very Mario Williams-ish. Gregg Williams could be good for him, but for how long is Gregg going to be here?

We have the cap space and after Young, this is a mediocre draft class for edge rushers. Disagree with this. Robby is a proven, legit deep threat WR who (despite what some Jet fans say) can run a full route tree. He is a dangerous outside WR and he has good chemistry with Sam. Without Robby, the Jets have Crowder and thats it, unproven guys who barely made the roster: Vyncent Smith, Berrios, Jeff Smith, Vyncent Smith, Doctson, Malone, Chessun. Without Robby the Jets would need to draft 2 WRs EARLY and hope they hit on both. So personally, as much as I want that splash pass rush signing, I think JD needs to lock up Robby and then see if Clowney will drop his price or look for a pass rush specialist in Rd. 2 or 3. like Baun, Okwara, Uche, Weaver, Anae, Willekes, Alton Robinson, Highsmith, Terrell Lewis. All of these guys have strengths and deficiencies but one thing they are known for is getting to the QB and all should be available in that2nd- 3rd maybe even 4th round range. Seattle now letting him walk after just 1 year. Teams seldom let great players walk or get something in return for them. Why don’t you take a walk. It would be moronic to spend that kind of cash on a DL after QW was a major bust. Even with QW and Anderson contributing next to nothing, our DL played pretty well. We have other pressing needs of higher priority. Clowney’s high is 9 sacks - (twice in a 6 year career) and only 3 sacks last year 1 2 3. Jenkins had 8 and we’re letting him walk. I’ll go with Jenks who’d be half the price.

Personally I don't rate that Robby that highly tbh. He is ok but I'd rather sign Perriman for 3-4m cheaper and draft those two rookie WRs as you mention. Ultimately I think... Clowney + 2rd round WR > Robby + 2nd round Edge. It's not quite that simple of course but this is an offense-loaded draft and we should take advantage of that. Probably all moot anyway. I don't see Clowney signing.

Jenkins is not half the player that Clowney is, though I do like him as a steady, set the edge OLB. Would love to have him back. Texans are run by BOB, enough said. Did you notice the trade of Hopkins for a once was RB? Clowney wanted a boat load of money from Houston. BOB had other thoughts. I did take a walk, was rather pleasant actually.

How exactly does one get that about any player from our TVs or computers? And couldn't we say this about anyone, that once they're handed a huge check their incentive to work is gone? Except it doesnt happen with everyone.

pdxgreen
Suprised he hasn't signed. Seattle fans sounded like they were sure he was going to at least be a priority. Now it seems like everybody is trying to get him at a cut rate.
