He didn’t get an extension. All he got was waiving his fines. Reddick had to save face and salvage his season. It looks like he did so by firing his agent and then taking what the Jets had been offering all along.

Our C+ student at Arizona went toe to toe with the ultimate shark agent and got the player in camp without an extension and just forgiving fines. I didn’t know he had it in him. 
 

makes JD and Reddick look dumb because this was the obvious solution all along though

He got him to report on a short term contract. 

So we get more than half a season of high level pass rush and it cost us a 3rd round pick and we will receive a 3rd round comp pick when he signs with another team next year.

Looks like JD won this one.

Team reporting fines are an illusory negotiation tool. The jets waive fines- which only exist as leverage for ownership- to get him on the field. The jets essentially gave up nothing (fines) to get something (reddick on the field)
