SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The same New York Jets who backed into the playoffs were the latest team to usher Marty Schottenheimer into the offseason.

Doug Brien kicked a 28-yard field goal with 5 seconds left in overtime to get linebacker Eric Barton off the hook for a huge penalty and give the Jets a 20-17 upset over the Chargers in a wild-card game Saturday night

The winning drive started on the New York 30 after Chargers rookie Nate Kaeding was wide right on a 40-yard field goal try with 4:19 left in overtime. It included an 18-yard pass from Pennington to Santana Moss that was upheld on review. The Jets celebrated wildly while Schottenheimer walked across the field with a far-off look on his face.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Early in the fourth quarter Sunday, with the game on the line, Jets coach Herman Edwards walked up to his franchise quarterback on the sideline.

Edwards told Chad Pennington, ``We have to score.''

The Miami Dolphins had just closed the gap to 10-7 and the defense needed a breather. Pennington promptly went out and led a beautiful drive, making up for his struggles early on, and helped seal a 17-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins with a 1-yard score to Jerald Sowell.

On the drive, Pennington went 7-of-7 for 74 yards. He finished 19-of-30 for 190 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

That was the best part of your post.;)

Well, he also forgot to mention that Chad drove the team down the field against the Steelers to set up Doug Brien's miss.

While Urlacher is a great player, the difference is that teams game planned for Taylor to try and neutralize him. No one game plans to try and take Urlacher out of the game. In spite of that, LT was still dominant.

You really need to stay over there and post with the 10-year olds.

Like those 10-year olds, you really don't understand the game of football.

Yea, that was just a mediocre performance tonight by Urlacher.

and im sure you have seen EVERY single football game ever...

come on, you know those don't count...he didn't drive down the field to lose the game like leinart...

Is that the same game PennyBoyWonder led the Jets offense to a whopping 3 points in 5 quarters of football?

Yea, he was real impressive in that game.

He was real impressive. The Jets were HUGE underdogs. They had Herm as a HC. Hackett as an O\C. Now before you dismiss those things -- Hackett left and could only get a QB Coach job. Herm -- well his KC team speaks for itself.

Anyway Chad had a torn rotator cuff in that game. And the Jets could not run the ball. He went out there anyway and put his team in position to win. Not once, twice.

Now to us it is all about winning the game. But you are the one who said Leinart looked so sexy in these losses. Maybe your standards are slipping. But the W is all that matters.

Huge underdogs, busted arm, terrible coaching staff, no running game, awesome defense, hostile crowd...those are the things that Chad went out and played against. When he should have been on the I.R. You can take shots at Chad if you want. But I am proud to root for him. That kid is all heart.

I agree, the only thing that matters is a win.

But are you really trying to compare the performance of a rookie QB in his 3rd NFL start to a QB who was in his 5th NFL season when that game was played?

Good find on the comeback drives, Oktaren.

The Stiller game was the first one that I thought of, too.

Urlacher is a great fb player, but LT's spectacular career is well documented, for those who really pay attention.

Tx is still pouting. He tried to lurk over at JI, but he got exposed and ran all the way home.

When this site follows the JI example it will be a happy day.

94 yard drive to win the game against Jacksonville

Hell, everyone is posting games from 03,04...wasn't it just this year that Pennington, after the Titans tied the game at 16,marched right down the field and capped the game winning drive by throwing a td to chris baker?

Yup.

Tx is so off on this one it isnt even funny.

Chad has engineered many many late game drives to win us games or force OT.

Leinart just started his 3rd professional game as a QB.

That last drive was more impressive than anything PennyBoyWonder has ever done in his 6 year career.

Name ONE drive like that, in crunch time, that PennyBoy ever had?

Guess what, you can't, because it never happened.

You need to stay over on the other side with all the 10-year olds.

How about the Jets vs Chargers AFC wildcard game 2 years ago.

Does that ring a bell?

Please show me where I said LT had a "mediocre" career.

Just to set the record straight, LT was one of the greastest LB's to ever play the game.

The only thing I said was that Urlacher had a monster game last night.
