Since Pacman Jones is allowed to practice now, I would vote for him.

Plus being a Cowboy adds to his turd-ness..

He has all the needed resume,,

arrest, someone shot, posse etc..

Ray Lewis of Ravens a very close , very very close 2nd as NFLs worst Thug-Turd.

I have to disagree. Lewis had one incident years ago. There are far wrse "thugs" out there.

What's with all the racist threads?

As far as this thread is concerned, all of the people mentioned so far happen to be black and happen to be logical candidates for the discussion (although I would disagree with calling Chad Johnson a thug).

Now if Bill Romanowski still played and wasn't mentioned, you would have a good point.

I would quickly agree with all the names mentioned so far but I seriously think that Marshawn Lynch of the Buffalo Ills has some real potential along these lines. He hit a woman with his car last weekend and just left her there in the street as he drove off. He has YET to talk with the cops repeatedly NOT showing up when he said he would. The latest is that he is sending in his lawyer to talk with them on Monday. Talk about a potential POS.

I never knew he was like this, I really hope he turns out like a Pac-Man. With all that said, I still think he's a pretty damn good player. Lol

I hope he goes to jail. I just don't want the Jets to face him twice a year.

Bears to address matter after Benson doesn't show for OTA

Is Cedric Benson's time with the Chicago Bears' up?

The troubled running back, whose relationship with the team soured further because of his second arrest in little more than a month Saturday, did not attend Monday's OTA.

nfl_g_benson_65.jpg Benson

As a result, general manager Jerry Angelo said the team would make a statement on Benson's status later in the day. Whether that meant Benson, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, would be released was not clear.

Benson was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Austin, Texas, early Saturday and Bears officials said they would treat the matter seriously. Benson's attorney said the former Texas star had a few drinks with dinner but didn't think he was intoxicated, and cooperated with police.

The arrest comes a month after Benson was charged in Austin with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He has said neither charge is true, and those cases are pending.

At a fan event at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday, Angelo said he hadn't spoken to Benson but called the most recent situation unfortunate.

"Disappointment is too much an often-used word when we're talking about Cedric, and the number one lesson for every player is protect your job," Angelo said. "So we're all held accountable for our actions."

Chris Henry has to be up there in the turd rankings.

Since his college days at West Virginia University, Henry has had a checkered off-field career, coupled with several on-field incidents. During his redshirt sophomore season with the Mountaineers, he was ejected from a game at Rutgers due to multiple unsportmanlike conduct penalties and was suspended for the season finale at Pitt.

* December 15, 2005 - Chris Henry was pulled over in Northern Kentucky for speeding and marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license, and without auto insurance. On January 30, 2006, he was arrested in Orlando for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm.[12] He was reported to have been wearing his Number 15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. Henry pleaded guilty in both cases and avoided jail time in both cases.

* May 4, 2006 - Cincinnati media reported that Henry is being investigated by Covington police in connection with a sex crime, which allegedly occurred in a hotel room in Covington, Kentucky early on April 30, 2006. No charges have yet been filed, and on May 24, 2006, Covington police reported that there is no proof anything happened and that the alleged victim might now face charges for filing a false police report.

* June 3, 2006 - Chris Henry was pulled over outside on Interstate 275 at 1:18 a.m by Ohio Highway Trooper Michael Shimko. At 2:06 a.m. Henry voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted by Ohio law.[13] These charges have since been dismissed as it was proven that the breathalyzer used to test Henry at the scene was faulty.[14]

* September 25, 2006 in the early morning, Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was pulled over for a DUI. The truck Thurman was driving belonged to rookie Reggie McNeal. Neither McNeal nor Chris Henry were charged with any wrongdoing by authorities, however, Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis benched Henry for the Bengals loss against the New England Patriots.

* October 6, 2006 - Henry was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbid Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their October 22, 2006 game against the Carolina Panthers.[15]

* January 25, 2007 - Henry pleaded guilty to charges of providing alcohol to minors, an incident that occurred at a hotel in the spring on 2006. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.[16]

* April 10, 2007 - Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy.[17] His suspension comes with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry has since been allowed to begin practicing fully with the Cincinnati Bengals by NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell.[18] His suspension was lifted and he played in the November 11, game versus the Baltimore Ravens, amassing 4 catches for 99 yards.

* May 18, 2007 - Henry allegedly failed a court-mandated drug test, where a field tested resulted in a false positive for taking an opiate, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The failed drug test would have been the third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. A third violation, per league rules, results in a one-year suspension. In addition to having his suspension increased to 24 games, he would have had to serve an 88 day jail sentence.[19] As of May 23, 2007, the State of Kentucky has reported that Henry in fact did NOT fail a drug test, and that earlier reports to the contrary are erroneous.

* June 12, 2007 - Henry allegedly assaulted a 16 year old boy with teammate Reggie McNeal. The claims were later reported to be unfounded[20] and Henry and McNeal have been exonerated.

* November 6, 2007 - Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee.[21]

* December 3, 2007 - Henry arrested again in Orlando Florida for violating his probation he was on from a January 30, 2006 arrest in Orlando. On February 21, 2008 he was found not guilty of violation of probation. On February 26, 2008, a motion to terminate probation in Orange County Florida was denied.

* April 2, 2008 - Henry was charged with misdemeanor assault and property damage. Henry allegedly threw a bottle shattering the victim's car window and punched him in the face, however Henry said it was a case of mistaken identity. He claimed he thought it was somebody else that owed him money.[22] Henry was waived by the Bengals a day after this arrest and was then forced to serve a house arrest sentence.

This is from Wikipedia but those are the facts.

He has to be active? This means Odell Thurman and Chris Henry cannot be used (dammit).

Pacman Jones. The guy continues to travel to Strip Clubs and Las Vegas despite Goodell banning him for the entire 2007 season. He is in Dallas, which has worked for T.O. and Tank Johnson, so far, so I'm sure he'll be fine.. but he's just asking for trouble returning to the places that lost him millions in the first place.

Bears send home Benson, later release troubled running back

After his boating DUI charge, Cedric Benson remained a starting running back in the eyes of coach Lovie Smith and the Chicago Bears.

His weekend DUI charge while in a car in Austin, Texas, has led to his release, however. The Bears placed Benson on waivers Monday, two years before the end of his contract and three years into a disappointing career with the team.

"Cedric displayed a pattern of behavior we will not tolerate," Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said in a statement. "As I said this past weekend, you have to protect your job. Everyone in this organization is held accountable for their actions. When individual priorities overshadow team goals, we suffer the consequences as a team. Those who fail to understand the importance of 'team' will not play for the Chicago Bears."

Benson wasn't present at the Bears' organized practice Monday. The Chicago Sun-Times reported on its Web site that Benson showed up and was sent home by Smith.

Reporters waited for a statement from Angelo as he walked off the field on Monday, but he said the team might have a statement later in the day.

The statement turned out to be an action. Benson's name appeared on the NFL's waiver wire Monday afternoon, ending the three-year relationship.

Though the 5-foot-10, 220-pound runner claimed his innocence on both DUI charges, the team apparently lost faith in him. Because he's been in the league for only three seasons, Benson does not have his contract automatically terminated. He can be claimed by any other interested team on waivers.

Before his release, Benson made one last-ditch effort to repair the situation, issuing an apology on Monday afternoon.

"I apologize for making the poor decision to drink and drive during the early morning of Saturday, June 7th," he said in a statement. "Given the incident last month, it was a particularly bad decision. I have no excuse for this lack of judgment.

"Though I strongly believe that I am not guilty of any crime, I realize that the public and the Bears organization hold me to higher standard. Though my local attorneys will continue to work hard to prove my innocence, I confess to using poor judgment. Please accept my deepest apology."

Benson was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Austin early Saturday and Bears officials said they would treat the matter seriously.

Benson's attorney, Sam Bassett, said Saturday that the former Texas star had a few drinks with dinner, but didn't think he was intoxicated, although he acknowledged his client would "probably be in trouble with his team."

Benson was pulled over for running a red light and refused to take a breath test or provide blood samples Saturday, Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said.

Bassett, however, said Benson thought the light was yellow when he went through around 2 a.m. but stopped immediately when police appeared, and he added that Benson told him he wasn't speeding or driving recklessly.

Bassett also said Benson offered to provide police a blood sample for testing and believes video of the arrest will show his client did well in the field sobriety test, although he hasn't seen it yet.

Texas law allows a driver to take a blood or breath test for alcohol content, Bassett said. When Benson offered to take a blood test, the arresting officer told him he'd have to take a breath test, which Benson refused, Bassett said.

Bassett said he has requested a copy of Benson's arrest videotape and hoped to watch it with a representative of the NFL and or the Bears, as early as this week.

"They pulled the trigger early," Bassett said of the Bears. "It's a disappointment to me."

The arrest comes a month after Benson was charged in Austin with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He has said neither charge is true, and those cases are pending.

Benson rushed for only 1,593 yards in three seasons. Thomas Jones was the Bears' starting running back for Benson's first two seasons. Jones was traded to the Jets before last season, giving Benson the chance to start.

It didn't work out on the field. Benson rushed for only 272 yards on 67 carries last season. He couldn't finish the season because of a broken leg.

The Bears drafted Tulane running back Matt Forte in the second round, and he will enter camp as the team's possible starter. Adrian Peterson, a longtime Bears backup, will initially be second string.

It is not known whether the Bears will pursue another running back.

Benson was the fourth pick in the 2005 draft. The team will save $820,000 on the cap by releasing him, but there will be a $2.575 million proration that will count against the 2008 cap. There will be a $2.575 million cap charge for the Bears in 2009.

Super Bowl slayings

Does Ray Lewis' arrest for murder taint the game?

ATLANTA -- Early on the chilly morning of January 31, as the city of Atlanta basked in the afterglow of maybe the best Super Bowl ever and revelers spilled out of an upscale bar in the Buckhead area of town, a fight broke out.

By the time it was over, two young men lay dying in the street, the victims of a brutal attack. And the NFL, which should have been sliding triumphantly into its off-season, was again forced to face its image as a haven for violent athletes.

Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl linebacker Ray Lewis -- one of the NFL's best young players and the leading tackler in the league this past season -- was one of three men police charged with the murders of two friends, a young barber and an aspiring artist.

The Crime

Atlanta police are still trying to piece together what happened on East Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead that early Monday morning.

This much is clear: Jacinth Baker, 21, and Richard Lollar, 24, two men who had come to Atlanta from Akron, Ohio, in search of opportunity, were stabbed to death not with wild swings of a knife, but by killers who apparently knew how to kill.

A Fulton County medical examiner said the two men's injuries "were well-directed wounds into vital areas." They quickly bled to death. Lollar died at the scene. Baker died on his way to the hospital.

Ray Anthony Lewis, 24, [url=http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/features/bloody_monday/news/2000/02/25/part1/#thetable2]admits being there more.gif when the fight that preceded the killings broke out. And two other men police call "longtime associates" of Lewis -- Reginald Oakley of Baltimore and Joseph Sweeting of Miami -- are also charged in the killings.

The murders occurred sometime around 4 a.m., about six hours after the St. Louis Rams beat the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV some seven miles away at the Georgia Dome. Sometime after Lewis left the Cobalt Lounge in Buckhead, his $3,000-a-day rented stretch limousine at the wait, a confrontation took place on the street.

Punches were thrown. A champagne bottle was broken over someone's head.

And, after the stabbings some 200 yards down the street from the Cobalt, Lewis and several other members of his entourage sped off in the Lincoln Navigator limo as gunshots rang out.

The Cobalt

The Cobalt Lounge had been open for barely six months but it quickly became a hot nightspot in an area known for its nightclubs. During Super Bowl week, Michael Jordan was seen in the club, and Wayne Gretzky stopped by, too. Falcons running back Jamal Anderson held a charity function there that Lewis had attended earlier in the week.

Guilty people always pay up

Ravens' Lewis reaches settlement with victim's daughter

May 2, 2004

SportsLine.com wire reports

ATLANTA -- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis reached a financial settlement with the daughter of one of two men killed in a fight after the Super Bowl in January 2000, avoiding a civil trial scheduled to begin next month.

Thomas Carlock, Lewis' Atlanta-based attorney, said Sunday the agreement was reached Thursday.

"The parties reached an amicable resolution and the case will be dismissed," Carlock said, adding that both sides agreed no details would be released.

Carlock would not comment on a report in The Baltimore Sun that Lewis agreed to pay at least $1 million to settle the case.

The settlement compensates 4-year-old India Lollar, the daughter of Richard Lollar, a barber stabbed to death outside a nightclub in the Buckhead district of Atlanta. India Lollar was born shortly after his death.

Carlock confirmed Lewis was in Atlanta for the settlement agreement Thursday.

The settlement, which followed three mediation sessions between the parties, pre-empted a potential civil trial scheduled to begin June 14.

Carlock said the suit against Lewis and co-defendants Reginald Oakley, Joseph Sweeting, Kwame King and Carlos Stafford will be dropped "soon."

A suit filed by the family of the other victim in the fight was settled previously. Terms were not disclosed.

Michael Weinstock, an attorney representing the Lollar family, told the Baltimore paper the case was "settled to the satisfaction of the parties."

Atlanta authorities charged Lewis with two counts of murder and four other felony counts in the Jan. 30, 2000, deaths of Lollar and Jacinth Baker. Co-defendants in the case were Oakley and Sweeting. King and Stafford were not charged.

All the felony counts were eventually dropped against Lewis, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor obstruction of justice charges and was sentenced to a year of probation. He testified against Oakley and Sweeting, who were found not guilty in June 2000. No one else was charged in the killings.
