The Titans were the original NY American Football League franchise which got mismanaged into the ground. The league took over the defunct team, then Sonny Werblin, showbiz impresario, came along and proposed starting up a brand new team-new name, (Jets) new uniforms, (green), new stadium, (Shea), new management,(Weeb Ewbank), new everything. The league agreed, and Werblin gave the league money to purchase the contracts of the old Titans players. The Titans were dead and buried by the time the Jets came along, and to my knowledge, the owers of the two teams never even met, let alone had any business dealings or transfers of franchise.
