Tajh Boyd, Matt Simms

The Jets have announced their cuts in order to get the roster down to the league mandated 53 man limit. We previously mentioned a few of the cuts, including Stephen Hill. But the full list appears below.

LB Antwan Barnes
on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List. Clubs had to reduce their roster to a maximum of 53 players by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.

With the Jets only carrying 2 QBs, Rich Cimini clarifies a question many had about the practice squad. Matt Simms is eligible according to J.P. Pelzman, so it is likely that the Jets will try to put him on the practice squad if he isn’t claimed by another team.

The Jets will certainly try to improve the roster through the waiver wire, so the final 53 will most likely change a bit. The Jets cornerbacks can use a little help so it is possible they will make a move there.

The Caleb Schlauderoff era is over? damn.

Disappointed about Miles. He was really impressive the other days. I mean, I know it was the scrub game, but he looked like he could turn into something.

Finally: f*ck Manish. Seriously. F*ck him.

Why have a #3 active, honestly.

Geno or Vick, thats the story in 2014.

If one gets hurt, we can sign a Boyd again, he's likely not going anywhere, nor is Simms.

Save the roster spot I suppose.

Holy crap there's been a lot of old faces showing up around these parts lately.  How's it going man?

Also, I completely agree with you, even in the unlikely scenario that either Simms or Boyd are going to get scooped up by anyone else, neither was going to save the season if both Geno and Vick went down.

Phil is going to have to dig deep to skewer the Jets more than he already does.  But I am confident he will.

I read this 5 times, I thought you were talking about me. Then I realized you meant Simms, lol.

That one offseason every time Tannenbaum spoke, he praised Caleb.  It was painful.
