Jetsfan80
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/13234396/suspension-greg-hardy-dallas-cowboys-reduced-four-games IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy had his suspension reduced from 10 games to four on appeal by arbitrator Harold Henderson, the NFL announced Friday. The NFL initially suspended Hardy in April for what it deemed to be multiple violations of the league's personal conduct policy during an incident with a former girlfriend in the spring of 2014. The charges against Hardy were eventually dismissed after Nicole Holder refused to cooperate with the Mecklenburg (North Carolina) County district attorney's office. In July 2014, Hardy was found guilty by a judge of assaulting Holder and threatening to kill her. He received a 60-day suspended sentence and 18 months' probation on misdemeanor charges but appealed the judge's ruling in favor of a jury trial. The case was dismissed in February when Holder chose not to cooperate with authorities after receiving a settlement from Hardy. Like law enforcement, the NFL was unable to interview Holder but was provided with photos and other materials for its independent investigation that concluded Hardy used physical force against Holder in "at least four instances." The league also said Hardy failed to provide complete and accurate information to NFL investigators and staff and that Hardy's attorneys did not provide a copy of the settlement with Holder or acknowledge that an agreement exists. In its appeal, the NFL Players Association believed Goodell used the personal conduct policy to penalize Hardy even though the incident happened before the policy was in place. Hardy missed all but one game last season but was paid his $13 million salary while on commissioner Roger Goodell's exempt list. When the Cowboys signed Hardy to a one-year deal in March, the team knew he faced a possible lengthy suspension but structured the contract in such a way that it did not include any guaranteed money and the biggest payment would come in the form of per-game roster bonuses. Hardy's deal is worth up to $13.2 million, but he will earn as much as $9.5 million by being on the 53-man roster. He has earned a $1.3 million workout bonus this spring and is scheduled to make a $750,000 base salary. He can also earn up to $1.804 million in incentives. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, executive vice president Stephen Jones, coaches and players have lauded Hardy's offseason, calling him one of the hardest workers on the team. Hardy will be permitted to take part in training camp and preseason games. The suspension will begin Sept. 5.

Il Mostro
Hardy got games shaved off on a technicality. The decision has nothing to do with judgement of the severity of his transgression, misguided justice, favoritism, Brady, or Richardson - no connection whatsoever. pdxgreen
Yep, Brady wont do time at all. The NFL will probably pay his court fees as well. I hate Goodell so f-ing much!
drdetroit
If this guy got off with domestic violence.. Bradys off the hook for sure. It's different. If the act itself occurred before the effective date of the policy technically he shouldn't be suspended at all unless an earlier form the policy was in existence at the time. Hardy is a POS who doesn't deserve to be in the NFL but rules are rules and Goodell was asleep at the wheel first several years he was the commissioner. drdetroit
Then why should Sheldons case be any different? Because he violated a policy that was on the books at the time he tested positive.
Jet Nut
If this guy got off with domestic violence.. Bradys off the hook for sure. Except for the little problem that he was let off of the domestic violence verdict. He's actually guilty of nothing. Then you add in that he was suspended as if the crime was committed before the rules were upped and that was not the case. As opposed to Brady who broke a league rule and was punished accordingly
j4jets
Because he violated a policy that was on the books at the time he tested positive. I'm sure there's a policy in place for cheating as well? These are totally different situations. No relation whatsoever.

drdetroit
I'm sure there's a policy in place for cheating as well? These are totally different situations. No relation whatsoever. What you guys are missing is the bigger issue which is Goodell is an incompetent executive who just winged it for years and now that players have upped the ante on criminal behavior the NFL has no rules to enforce other than after the fact PR coverup bs.
