Gutsy effort by this team down the stretch. Hopefully it translates into something more than a one and done.

Red Sox fans must be apoplectic after this weekend,

Just lost to Baltimore.

The AL East could possibly have 4 different 90 win teams.   I don't know that has ever happened before.  At the least, 4 teams with 88 wins.

And it is not just NY, Boston and Toronto in the race for the two spots either.  Yankees still have the toughest 5 games remaining (2 against the Blue Jays and 3 against Tampa) but the current 2.5 game cushion over the 3rd place wild card team (Seattle) with five to play is getting closer to a lock.

The trick right now may be to avoid a 1-game play-in to the real 1-game play-in game

If, (huge if) they take the next 2 from Toronto, the Jays are out.

Also, (huge if) the Rays may rest a few players to be ready for the next round of the playoffs.

Rays went 18-1 vs the Orioles, Yanks went 11-8.     That's one team taking care of the weakest team in baseball, and one team not taking advantage.

Right now I’ll just be happy with making the playoffs anyway possible.  This yankee team looked horrid early in the season

Sox were picked by most to finish 4th in the division. This is all gravy, really.

A Sale/Cole matchup to get into the actual playoffs would be fun though.

It’s not really all gravy considering the huge lead the Red Sox had at one point.

No one is getting fired.  Yankees made the playoffs despite the AL East being hyper competitive

We need Tanaka back here in a bad way.  Right now our rotation is Cole and a bunch of 4th starters

Not the time to be praising Cole. You pay him all that money and for what. Gtfo with that bum I hope he gets booed big time opening day next year.

To be fair Cole had a hamstring injury last month and without him we probably miss the playoffs each of the last 2 seasons
