SoFlaJets
From Jets Blog and Bassett ..hmmm a reply from anonymous-could it be? Alright it's been too quiet around here recently, and that's on me. That being said, I will venture down a path I rarely trod... the dreaded seasonal predicitions. How do you think the Jets will fare this season? What kind of record will they end up with? Vegas is on the books now for 6.5 wins... what do you think? Here's their schedule if you haven't seen it. Date Opponent Sep 10 @Tennessee Sep 17 New England Sep 24 @Buffalo Oct 1 Indianapolis Oct 8 @Jacksonville Oct 15 Miami Oct 22 Detroit Oct 29 @Cleveland Week 9 BYE Nov 12 @New England Nov 19 Chicago Nov 26 Houston Dec 3 @Green Bay Dec 10 Buffalo Dec 17 @Minnesota Dec 25 @Miami Dec 31 Oakland by Anonymous at 04:38PM (EDT) on Jun 28, 2006 | Permanent Link without a doubt, the smart $ is on the over in wins. noone is expecting anything out of this team, which means they'll most likely surprise on the upside. putting everything else aside, if you just bet against prevailing jet fan sentiment heading into the season you would make big money. backtest this theory and i think you'll agree. from a fundamental perspective, why do i think the smart $ is on the over? first off, talentwise we are much more solid than people are giving us credit for. but talent isn't as important for the new system. smart and competitive players are most important bc this is a coaching and x's and o's intensive system. we won 4 games last year with basically no offensive line, a 3rd string QB and RB and a coach headed out the door. the core of this team has a lot of heart and character and the true open comeptition that mangini is fostering alone will double the win total from last year. get your $ on the over quickly before it goes up! (ps, don't worry about the QB situation - it's just noise at this point).
KINGDIRK
Its July....and we have NO starting QB. If you know anything about the NFL, you understand that this is a huge problem. Pennington cant throw deep outs. He cant throw deep period. Two torn shoulders for a guy who never had a strong arm in the first place. Every team knows this, defenses will push up, and our passing game will be in trouble. Our RB is 33 and on the way out. Houston is a back up. THe Oline is young, real young. And thats not good. WRs. Coles is a #2 at best. The rest of em suk. This team is a MESS. We have ZERO.....ZERO offensive playmakers. I like the defense but with a pitful offense it will be on the field way too long every week. And what most disillusioned Jets fans dont understand is that the Jets are bringing in a whole new coaching staff with no experience and whole new system. This $hit takes time. This defense has been playing 4-3, the switch to 3-4 wont happen overnight. We're looking at a 4 win season, with 3-13 not out of the question. Most definately were looking at another Top 4 pick in the draft.

Sperm Edwards
I made my little prediction a little tongue-in-cheek. We don't know who the QB is even going to be. And no one's seen Mangini coach a game yet or Brian Schottenheimer call plays for a game yet. By mid-season (regardless of the W/L record) we should see what types of coaches they are at their newly promoted levels. When a team has a new coach, it's impossible to say how they're going to do in his first year while rebuilding.
shawn306
I can't tell you what they are going to do game by game, but with very little on the offensive side of the football in the way of playmakers and a defensive side that will not have two of their best players returning (Law and Abraham) it is hard to see this group winning more that 5 games in 2006. As long as Mangini lays down the foundation for the future anything better than 5 wins is a success to me.
