John O'Boyle / The Star-LedgerFree agent wide receiver Braylon Edwards released a statement saying he was not in a Detroit bar fight that saw his two cousins charged with felonious assault.

Braylon Edwards has not found a team to sign with yet but there are reports he may have found trouble with the law again. A report by the Detroit Free Press indicates that Edwards may be implicated in a bar fight that occurred Monday.

Two of Edwards' cousins were at the bar with Edwards when a fight broke out. One bar bouncer was stabbed in the neck with a fork, another stabbed with a pocket knife. Both cousins are being charged with felonious assault.

Initially, it seemed that the current free agent wide receiver was not involved in the fight but the bar has come to say that Edwards was "present and involved."

Edwards pleaded guilty last week to a DWI charge in New York. Five days later, in Cleveland, where he was sentenced to a year of active probation and community service because he violated his probation.

Today, a statement was released on behalf of Edwards saying he was not involved in the bar fight:

"What occurred last weekend at South Bar was very unfortunate. However, Birmingham Police have indicated that Braylon was not involved. Mr. Edwards intends to cooperate fully in any inquiry, but because this is an ongoing legal investigation, we can not comment further."
