Guy was a 3rd round pick and has never been on the street.  He's started games for the Saints and Chargers.  He's not a guy you necessarily expect to have a roster spot but he has a fair chance.  He is probably a better chance than Aaron Berry who everybody started accepting as a potential starter for some reason.

Interesting thing about him is that he is not big like Idzik is supposed to like them or a particularly good man corner like Rex likes.  Most of the scouting reports scream zone.  I hope he is a good special teamer.

Brian Costello @BrianCoz 12m

Johnny Patrick was a third-round pick of the Saints in 2011. Played mainly slot for SD in 2013. Had 4 starts. 1 career interception #nyj

A slot guy?

Rex did say that kyle stays in the slot ONLY because he's our best slot corner. If we get a slot corner kyle mite get his own island

Quality acquisition I like it. Depth players with NFL experience or who knows starting CB in 2014.

So, they just re-upped Lankster and Walls, too.

Theretofore:

1. Milliner
2. Wilson
3. Walls
4. Lankster
5. Patrick

Just not at WR. Those acquisitions need to be legit #1's.

I like this plan, but the islanders also made me hate myself tonight and realized we're all a bunch of rabbits chasing a non existent carrot. Let's just l make Kyle Wilson the #1 CB

IMO, they need to direct their entire free agent push toward Alterraun Verner. Instantly makes this an entirely different defense. Milliner sucked for much of the year, but Cromartie straight-up lost them games last year by himself.

I like it and I know bush is good and can make a leap this year but we need a outside lb that can rush and cover.

Then some receivers and a guard and a TE that can play the position all around.

Today the New York Jets claimed corner back  Johnny Patrick off waivers.  The 25 year old Patrick was waived by the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday after playing 13 games with them in the 2013 .

Johnny Patrick tweeted out today that he was excited to become part of Jets Nation.

Patrick was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2011 in the third round and spent two years playing there. He primarily plays nickel and slot corner but the signing of Patrick adds depth to the position. We will keep you posted when other roster moves occur.

Make sure to visit our New York Jets Message Board and see what the rest of Jets Nation is saying about the  signing.

I like this move, former 3rd rounder out of Louisville if I'm not mistaken. Coming off his third year as a pro and it was his best. Depth is key. No problem with this waiver claim.

Mentioned in the book Collision Low Crossers. Jets wanted him back then.
