I liked what I heard from new HC/GM on WFAN interview (link)

Bowles interview was just great. He just comes across as someone who is articulate, intelligent, straight shooter who has perfect clarity of vision.

Maccagnan has not impressed me. I hope he is a better scout than interviewee.

I actually thought Maccagnan was pretty good.  Maybe a tad softspoken but in my mind that does not reflect on his competence for the job.

I hope i am way way out in the left field on this one. But he does not sound impressive. Just don't get the feel. And i hope i am very wrong on this one. Because it means a few more lost seasons if i am right.

how do u want  him to sound? he is a scout/personell guy,, not used to being interviewed,, he is a nerd like virtually all scouts/personell guys,,remember jeff bauer form Jets,,that guy looked like he was gonna puke every time he was in front of a camera.

its about smart decisions, not winning press conferences lik Rex always won

There are other scout/personnel guys in the league who sound and speak a lot better.

Again as i said i hope i am wrong.

who cares!!!!!! is there a correallation between giving good interviews and being a good GM? I am baffled how this is even something you think about,,Now, a HC is diffferent,, he needs ot be somewhat inspirational, but a GM,,WTF care..

Todd Bowles knew Maccagnan was going to be the GM. If Bowles was ok with it, I have no problem with it. Apparently according to their contracts, Mac has final say over the 53 man roster, and Bowles has say over game day active roster.

Here was my original response. Please take your meds. No need to get so worked up over this.

Link from Francessa interview,, I thought both did well, especially Todd:

I got to admit, I think Francesa likes it too. He's been behaving and not trying to bait these guys or anything. I really think that Woody's move in this direction has in a way gained the respect of Francesa. I still think he will troll us when the season starts but its cool to see Mike not act like such a flamer.

It's all exciting, but isn't it always?

When Herm arrived we said "wow, great enthusiasm, guys are gonna' run through a wall for this guy"

When Herm was fired "It's about time, he's full of hot air and just wants to hear himself talk"

When Mangini was hired "Great, this guy doesn't talk, he just cares about football, not long press conferences"

When Mangini was fired "Thank god, lets get somebody in here with a little personality"

When Rex was hired "wow, great enthusiasm, guys are gonna' run through a wall for this guy"

When Rex was fired "It's about time, he's full of hot air and just wants to hear himself talk"

When Bowles was hired "Great, this guy doesn't talk, he just cares about football, not long press conferences"

Funny...and sad.

I have noticed the same pattern, but I feel it's different this time.  I feel Bowles is a little of all of them but also his own.  He comes off as a motivational guy that won't have to run his mouth to get guys to listen.  Definitely more personality than Mangini (but his personality was as flat as a sidewalk), and smarter than Herm.  Seems like he speaks with his actions too.

I couldn't give a crap if Francessa likes either one of them and gaining his respect is meaningless, he is a freaking radio host and nothing more.  That fat turd has an inflated sense of self worth.

The only one of those hires that I initially liked was Bowles. Herm was overpromoted for political reasons, Rex was a dolt from the minute he walked in the door, and Mangini wasn't ready to be a head coach. Bowles is the antithesis of that entire group, imo.

I realize it wasn't the reaction of every fan, but the masses were pretty much in line with this.

I just  hope the end of Bowles time with the Jets has  him wearing  a ring or two.

unfortunately, as much as we like the hires, the end result was the same..no super bowl victories.....

Exactly my point...for the most part, majority of fans are excited at any new hire.  It's blind faith/hope.  We want to believe that "this is the guy" but for us, it never is..or has been.

Hopefully this time is different.

I liked Herm, wasn't crazy about Mangini, and I've always hated Rex.

True buy one thing that is so far separating Todd is that he has really emphasized two things that none of the others have...balance between all three phases and teaching and developing players. Our last three coaches have ALL been have the opponent score less than us guys

This is true, but the other thing separating him is that they had several seasons of not winning a ring, he hasn't coached a game yet.  If this team starts out slow (especially on defense), it'll be SOJ all over again.
