Word. Playing for first place next week is about as climactic as our symbolic mid-80's Cold War era propaganda fluff!

I'll be cheering there next week and have 2 extra for those interested

Now to score some Yankee Tix and witness the Sunday Sweep of NY over Cleveland!

Let's Go Mets

Where's the discipline for the fans who say others aren't real fans just because they have a different viewpoint? Because, that is a personal attack.

Real fans wouldn’t have that ridiculous avatar picture you put up there.

A real fan would have one more like...mine.

i still didnt get an answer what else you want them to do in order to tank

they gut the team

they let a QB who was 2-22 the last few years to start

they have an awful coach

what else do you want them to do??

Look.  I'm not actively rooting for the team to lose.  That has always been my stance.  I know that football players do not "tank". My anger and frustration stems from the decision to play McCown and game manager our way to eeking out ugly wins. I have said from day one that this type of situation and attitude is the only one that would drive me insane, and it has.  This was supposed to be a "competitive rebuild".  Guys like ArDarius Stewart shouldn't be getting limited reps behind Jeremy Kerley.  It shouldn't have taken an injury for Forte to not be the featured back here over a committee of him Powell and McGuire.  We shouldn't be playing a 38 year old never-was at QB because the coach thinks that he "gives us the best chance to win right now".  If Petty and Hackenberg were throwing the ball 25-30 times a game, behind a committee of young backs in the run game, to the plethora of young WRs we have and winning games here and there, I would have absolutely no issues.  Instead we're watching McCown doing his best not to f*ck up and cost us like we're a playoff bound team, ala Alex Smith.  We aren't a playoff team.  My gut says New England is going to do a great job of showing us that next week.  I wanted the young guys to come out guns blazing, throwing a ton, for better or worse,  and either give us a reason to build around them, or flame out and give us the definitive answer as to whether or not we need to do everything to get a young guy in the draft next year.

What we're doing right now is not how you do a rebuild a bad football team. This is how you get stuck in a perpetual wheel of mediocrity because you're too afraid to take a chance and find the guy who can, ultimately, lead your franchise for the next 10+ years.  I'm sorry if this line of thinking puts a damper on the fact that we're 3-2 but when it's all said and done, we're going to be left scratching our heads come draft day when all the other teams ahead of us (or those that trade up ahead of us) all get their guy, and those same people who are stoked about McCown and the record right now will be b*tching that we don't have a franchise QB so why are we drafting an OL, CB, LB, DE, WR in the first when we have such a glaring need.

You don't have to outright root for them to loose.  They score a td and what?  You're booing?  C'mon, we can't do that here.  I understand the tanking.  This is supposed to be a really bad year for us.  I accepted that and expected many losses (which is till a strong possibility).  The difference for me is that if the Jets loose, I probably won't be as dissapointed as i normally am after a loss because I can look ahead to the future.  But when the whistle blows, we go out there and root for success.  Let the chips fall where they may.  None of these prospects are Peyton or Luck (not that he's done anything yet).

This is, more or less, how I approach game day.  I didn't f*cking boo that ASJ and Kearse caught TDs.  I just wondered to myself why the hell McCown was the one tossing them.

I agree to a certain point. But you're acting like because the Jets are 3-2 in early October they have no shot now of getting a QB next year. There are so many variables I think you are overlooking. The Jets could finish with the 10th pick and someone could fall to us, or we could trade up. Or we could not win another game the rest of the season after this game and being in a good spot to draft a top college QB. Or we could be targeting someone in FA like Garapolo. There is so much that can happen still.

And to counter all of this, I'd say that this is nothing but wishful thinking because those of us who have paid close attention to the draft prospects don't believe that teams who need QBs are going to pass on guys like the one's we love.  Then we'll be left with the ugly step sister that nobody else wanted and we'll be stuck with a 5 year commitment to them because that's what happens when you draft a first round QB.

I am a huge fan of Mason Rudolph.  That being said, I don't want to touch him with a 1st round pick.  Guess what we're probably going to have to do when Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold (if he declares), and Falk all go to the teams ahead of us?  You aren't just kissing the great prospects goodbye for this year, you're kissing away the top prospects for the next 5 years.

I'm not advocating drafting a guy whose not worthy of being a 1st round pick. I'm saying sometimes players fall for whatever reasons, and teams can also trade up. It happens all the time.

It's also getting ahead of yourself to believe that Darnold, Rosen, and Falk are all sure things to be stars in the NFL. You don't know what these guys are going to be yet. Sam Darnold is 20 years old. You're inducting these guys into the Hall of Fame while they are still playing college football.

Don't worry...Macc is drawing up McCown's $12 mill contract for next year in the back room.  It's all good.

Exactly what the "Suck for Sam, er, Josh, er, no, the other Josh" crowd deserves.

Still, I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing that contract anytime soon.

I don't want to 'suck' for anybody.  But personally, I can't see what treading water and winning games with McCown proves at this point.

This is 2015 part 2 IMO.  To each his own I suppose.

If we were 3-2 with Hack or Petty, I'd be ecstatic...

What does going 0-16 prove, exactly?

Not even close.  Even a casual look at the rosters shows that out.

What will be, will be.  Remember that, and this all becomes much more clear.

As would I.  But those two need to win the job, and thus far, they can't even beat out a clearly sh*t McCown.  Says alot.

I was a d*ck, took this too literal, and went too far with my response.

Being that Bowles was playing Forte over Powell and McGwire tie he got hurt, and treating many other 'vets' similarly, I still have my doubts as to whether that is the case.  Kind of a Catch-22 if you're old enough to have read that book that is ;)

Oh good, since we're now in the business of telling each other what the other side deserves, you won't mind me saying that I feel that those who think like you don't "deserve" to ever see a franchise QB in their lifetime, right?

This is ok to do now after all.

I don't mind at all Mogz.

Never seeing a franchise QB, hmmmm, guess I already know whats that's like since we've never had one in my lifetime.  Chad was as close as I ever saw (well, I would say O'Brien but I know most disagree).

In any event, the Suck for Sam, er, Josh, er, the other Josh folks clearly misjudged the team.  Not my fault, not the teams fault.

The team was never tanking.  NFL teams don't tank, this isn't the NBA.

Is what it is, I'll get worked up over the outcome when there is an outcome to get worked up over:  i.e. next spring.

Hell, we could all be dead by then.  Live for the now.  It may be all we get.

I already feel like a d*ck for writing that.  F*ck.  I'm sorry.  Here's an upvote too.  We're all fans at the end of the day, and none of us "deserves" what I said.  I went too far.

It says nothing other than Bowles is a stubborn ultraconservative piece of crap that has no concern for the future of the team, only for trying to save his own ass.

AND

Petty was given the third preseason game, you know the one against the starters and here were his stats

Bryce Petty 15/18 250 13.9 3 0 0-0 158.3

He had a PERFECT QB rating, and Bowles started McClown anyway. Petty sitting says absolutely nothing about Petty but a lot about that pussy Bowles,

Wishful thinking and reality avoidance.

Hack is total dogsh*t to-date, and Petty is literally an egg back there (and was barely the equal of McCown anyway) outside one moment vs. preseason #3's no longer in the league.
