Devin McCourty

Patriots LCB Devin McCourty has been targeted the most among defensive backs in the NFL so far this season.

He has been targeted a whopping 51 times for 35 receptions, 496 yards, and two touchdowns in six games. Opposing quarterbacks have a 125.9 rating when throwing his way. He'll probably lose the top-spot on this list over the bye week, but the Steelers will look to put him right back on top using their multiple deep threats in Week 8.

That's beyond terrible. I'm glad we got K-Dub!

It's amazing what a year does, huh? McCourty is still a good player but he was glorified last year by picks. The WORST mistake anyone can make when ranking a CB. But it looks like the Jets may have gotten the better of the two...which is cool because I swore by this last year...until the season started and had to put my foot in my mouth.

Revis would be NE's #1 CB.

Cromartie would be NE's #1 CB.

Wilson would be NE's #1 CB.

Devin McCourty who? You mean the overrated and often overhyped jag such as Brandon Meriweather? Key word being 'once' (last year), because it's became more than obvious that McCourty will never be anything more than a decent #2 CB; if that.

Defensive tackle

Dishonorable mention: Albert Haynesworth, New England

Cornerback

Dishonorable mention: Devin McCourty, New England

.

Receiver -- Chad Ochocinco, New England:

I'll grant you that no one really expected a 75-catch, 1,200-yard season coming from the ex-Bengal in New England, but this? Ochocinco has nine catches for 136 yards (15.1) without a touchdown in his six games as a Patriot, and that ranks him tied for 170th overall among the league's reception leaders. That would be 1-7-0. No wonder we haven't heard a peep out of him. And they say he hasn't even fully learned the New England offense yet, which just boggles the mind

Wait, why did you list Ty Warren on the list of supposed failures?

And yes, McCourty (along with the entire pass defense outside of Vince Wilfork) has been bad this year. Whether it is a question of scheme, talent, or execution is up for debate.
