I'm intrigued by Winston, but I don't think it's wise to burden a new regime with that sort of gamble.

It's less wise to burden a new regime with even 1 more snap of Geno Smith.

Jets fans bashing Jameis Winston is like a virgin dude saying that girl isn't good looking enough

What do you think of Vic Beasley, Clemson?

I've watched Clemson more than a hand full of times and that kid comes off the edge fast.  But I'm not sure he's a top 6 pick.  I dont see the same guy when I compare him to what I've seen from Ray and Fowler Jr.   Plus, he's small.  Like 6'2 230 small.  Not sure he'd fit Bowles system.

Reminds me of Jarvis Jones where as Ray and Fowler have a little Von Miller in them.

Brandon Scherff OT Iowa.

Build the OL

besides the Iowa legacy of these guys not being great athletes, Scherff had knee surgery this year and he played through it. His medical exams are going to be crucial. When it's all said and done i don't think this guy sniffs the top half of rd 1.

This Mock from Gang Green Nation:

http://www.ganggreennation.com/2015/1/15/7551269/scouting-the-2015-draft-combo-mock-1-0

Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan have a chance to build this franchise in their image, and it all starts with free agency and the draft. The last few years, Drew (@DrewfromJersey) and I have teamed up to mock our New York Jets loving hearts out. Last year we had us picking ODB in the 1st, and was met with a lot of negative feedback. I think we know how that has turned out. Maybe we will get more love this time around.

Round 1

Dante Fowler Jr., OLB, Florida

6'3" - 265 Pounds - 4.68 40

One thing we haven't had in a very long time is a dynamic pass rusher that other teams need to account for, or they will have a long day ahead of them. I know people will groan over another defensive first round pick, but Maccagnan has a history of first round pass rushers, and we absolutely need one. It came down to Amari Cooper, Brandon Scherff and Dante Fowler. There is a good deal of depth at WR, so if we don't get one in the 1st, it isn't the end of the world, plus Percy Harvin would look great in Chan Gailey's offense. Scherff fills a big need along the O-line, but Maccagnan has never gone with an O-lineman in the first. Fowler is a terror off the edge, and is very versatile. He can play a number of positions in Bowles' defense. His numbers are not a good interpretation of what a maniac he was rushing the passer.

Year Sacks QB Hurries TFL Tackles 2014 8.5 17 15 60

Round 2

Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina

6'0" - 188 Pounds - 4.45 40

Even if Harvin comes back, we should stockpile some WR talent behind him. His injury history is extensive, and needs a safety net. Enter Justin Hardy. Hardy has been very impressive for the East Carolina Pirates. His only year with 1,000 yards or less was his freshman year. He also had over 100 receptions in both of his last two years. Hardy might not be physically imposing at only 6 foot, but he has long arms, and great hand strength to pluck balls out of the air. He would make a very good complement to a receiving corps that is starting to look up.

Year Receptions Yards AVG TD 2014 121 1494 12.34 10

Round 3

Daryl Williams, OT, Oklahoma

6'6" - 329 Pounds - 5.36 40

I have not forgotten about our beleaguered O-line. Even though we have Breno Giacomini coming back next year, I can't think of a single person who thinks he is our savior at RT. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is also getting older, and has been declining for a little now. Replacements or competition needs to be brought in. In the meantime, Daryl Williams can challenge Breno right away for that starting RT spot. Williams has had a very good year for the Sooners. This was highlighted by an amazing game against Shawn Oakman. Williams is one guy that was not intimidated by the meme sensation.

Round 4

Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami (Ohio)

6'0" - 180 Pounds - 4.53 40

One of our saddest positions is CB. There is no need for me to go into great detail about how bad our CBs were. This is a position that needs to be aggressively pursued in the offseason. I am talking about a top flight free agent signing and a draft pick or two. I don't want to put all of my eggs in the Dee Milliner/Dexter McDougle basket. Quinten Rollins is one of my favorite CB prospects coming out this year. His small school status, along with his limited time as a college football player (1 year) will keep Rollins relatively low on draft boards. He is almost certain to climb higher as the draft approaches. For now, the 4th round is an appropriate place for him. Rollins is a tremendous talent that will only grow as a player under Bowles.

Year Tackles INT PD TFL 2014 72 7 9 4

Round 5

Jake Ryan, ILB/OLB, Michigan

6'3" - 236 Pounds - 4.70 40

We have a severe deficiency in our LBing corps. Other than Demario Davis, there isn't really anyone else that really belongs back there. Quinton Coples has shown he is capable, but we are doing him a great disservice taking him away from the D-line. David Harris will be hitting free agency, and might not be coming back. We need to retool here desperately. Jake Ryan is a very talented LBer. He is one year removed from an ACL tear in 2013, and looked a lot like his 2012 self in 2014. He can play a number of LBer positions, which is exactly what we need.

Round 7

Adrian Amos, FS, Penn State

6'0" - 215 Pounds - 4.60 40

It should be no surprise that I am going back to the secondary here. Sure it's the 7th round, but we can still find some possible  gems here. Calvin Pryor struggled a big in his rookie year. I think a lot of that has to do with playing out of position. A FS needs to be brought in to hang back and hunt. This would allow Pryor to play closer to the line, and be a menace. Amos has a very good year for Penn State. He finished the year with 3 interceptions and 7 passes broken up.

Year Tackles TFL INT PD 2014 42 2.5 3 7

I'd love this...first 3 rounds are solid.

posted this last night at like 2 in the morning but the thread died pretty quickly, just wanna see what you guys think

Nate Allen played under Bowles so he could be somebody he might bring in. Snacks is a RFA so he will be back for at least 1 more year. Ellis might be a goner. Don't like drafting a lineman in the top 10 unless there's nothing else to pick (outside of QB/WR/OLB). As for the WR, Thomas is not coming to NY. He can pretty much pick any team he wants and most of them are going to offer him the money he's looking for. He'll pick whatever team has the best QB situation. Maybe if we can get Peyton somehow but I don't see that happening either.

Want no part of Mariota. None.

I'm intrigued by Winston, but I don't think it's wise to burden a new regime with that sort of gamble.

Amari Cooper is the safest pick there, imo.

Wouldn't love drafting a right tackle, but I'd understand it.

Sounds like Cardale Jones is coming out. I'd like to see us take a shot on him in the 3rd.

Here's how it goes.

Mariota is available at 6.

Jets trade pick to Eagles for their first (#20 overall), their 4th, and Malcolm Jenkins.

With the 20th overall pick, Jets select Trae Waynes, CB Mich St.

With the 4th round pick from Eagles, Jets select Cardale Jones.

Like the thought, but the return isn't enough. Malcolm Jenkins?

You are not a beggar by virtue of having the sixth overall pick.

Agree 100%

Screw the retards who say you can't draft a Guard that high. They only play every down and affect just about every play

Taking a guard at 6 for a 4 win team is beyond stupid.

Historically, teams dont draft Guards in the top 10, let alone, #6 overall.  There is a reason for that.  The perfect example of why was 2013.  Arizona took Jonathan Cooper 7th overall.  He's been an absolute bust.  The Titans, took cant miss, best OL prospect ever, Chance Warmack, and he's a bust.  On the other hand, Detroit took Larry Warford in the 3rd and he's been an absolute stud.

A Guard at 6?  That would be sooo Jets.

Cooper is a bust because he cannot beat out 2 average guards, to call Warmack a Bust is nuts, the dude has played every snap in every game. Until  T1ts get a legit QB, no one on that OL looks good.  I still wouldn't take a guard in top 6 for sure.

Don't get your feelings hurt but Warmack has been terrible. Especially considering where they took him.

When you take a guard top 10, you better get Steve Hutchinson instead they got a JAG.

Our main goal should be to get the next Kyle Wilson, Calvin Ptyor, Dewayne Robertson or Vernon Gholsto. Cuz those are the importanty positions. Never mind our O-line sucks and BPA at 6 is an offensive lineman.

Warmack is not a bust but being picked that high any guard you take better be going to the pro bowl from about year 2 to the end of their career.

We need a CB more than a Safety and as others have pointed out the value is way out of whack.  If we traded 6 to the eagles we would be getting their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and something else.

maybe we can have an even worse O-line than last year?

dude. the Jets were 2nd in rushing last year. Without a decent QB (stacked box).

They had the best center in all of football. Most teams don't employ an OL as good as Nick Mangold.

This is not a popular statement but I'll say it again: the OL was better than average.  Not amazing, not perfect but more than good enough to win games. Alot of games if the QB was better.

OL is not the problem with this team. Any time you saw 6 rushers for 5 blockers, that's on the QB not the OL.

i do agree they can upgrade on Colon and Breno but that's not a problem requiring a 6 pick to solve.

They're much more important than a Guard that can be found in the 4th round.

I actually agree with you.

With that said, it can always be better, especially in pass blocking where it was closer to "slightly below average".

There are assets there to build on, but it's far from perfect, or dominant.  Especially in the passing game.

In the 3rd or 4th round I assume you mean?

Hell no. Take him at six. He's got more talent than anyone in the draft. He could have 2 torn ACLs and he'd still be worth it.

There is zero chance he makes it into the 2nd round.
