Let’s be honest. Chances of Macc breaking an 18 year streak of no WRs in the first for NY is slim to none.

May I present to you; Jalen Hurd and Keelan Doss in rounds 3-4. And Jazz Ferguson in rounds 4-7.

Here’s a sneak peak at the Gazelle

Indeed. I’m saying if he’s the guy, and by that I mean the medical checks out, and the workouts look good, then he’s the guy. What does it matter if he’s taken at 4 or 10 or 12 etc. no one will care to three years from now

If u like a guy at 3 and know he will be there at 10, u trade down.  There will be plenty of teams looking to move up for a qb.

I'm not sure he's Hill but their level of production in college is eerily similar.  Metcalf scares the ever living snot out of me.

The OP compared him to Mike Evans and I have no earthly clue where that comparison comes from, nowhere even close the same production in college.

I wouldnt touch him personally.  At #3???? OMG hell no.

I said if he runs a 4.5 40, at 6'4 230, he's in the Evans mold. Kids got hands, and has put up good.numbers in limited action, but I mever compared their college production or careers. But if we did, can we also compare Matt Luke vs Kevin Sumlin and Johnny Heisman vs. Shea Somebody and Jordan Ta'amnotgoingpro....lol

I'm at a loss with this DK infatuation suddenly. I was okay with it last night if Allen was gone, but I asked paradis why he thought Metcalf should be taken at 3. Never heard back, but I trusted his judgement. Now today after reading more about him, WTF? Has he played even 20 games? Look, you guys know way more about these prospects then I do, but eff this guy. Between the broken foot and neck surgery, and lack of on field experience, take him at 3? Come on now.

If I had to guess all this talk about him doesn't matter though. After releasing Long, I'm almost certain the Jets have decided to reach on their top pick, and it won't be for Metcalf (thank God). I'm thinking it's Jonah for sure now. If he can't play LT right away they just plug him in at T and call it a day.

+1.  This would be ideal if Mac could swing it.

I'd have no problem if they took him at 3, and I think after the combine it won't be considered out of the question.  He comes from a family of All-Pro's. His Grandfather, Father, and Uncle all played for many years in the NFL.  Those type of guys almost always pan out.  I like the Brandon Marshall comp for him.

Kelvin Harmon, IMO, is closer to Braylon Edwards, and would be another guy to target in a trade back.  I really like both guys.

Thats the dream scenario right there. Sign a C and OG in FA. Resign Long as OG. Metcalf and Harmon. Rest of the draft is O line. Whammo.

My question is how the **** did Terry Metcalf have a son that was an NFL Guard and a grandson that is 6'4" 230?  I loved Terry and Eric, but they were both like 5'9" 185.

Thats a funny throw away line. Lets delve into it.

Charles Rodgers MSU 2003 #2 pick: His life was a mess off the field. His injury was bad, but then he broke his clavicle a second time and basically left the team out of despair. He went on to have multiple drug suspensions, and as of now has been arrested about 20 times for various things. Taken at #3 overall that year? ANDRE JOHNSON. He was OK for a while....lol

Mike Williams, USC, 10th pick 2005: Sat out his last season at USC trying to leave early. Reported to the Lions out of shape and overweight. Played with Joey Harrinton. LOL. Pick #3 THAT year? Braylon Edwards. Had a devent career playing with guys like Derek Anderson, Mark Sanchez etc.

So yeah.....no.

Matt Millen also selected Calvin Johnson.

Not looking to knock the kid, but I look at these career highlight things like this: If I put one together of myself hitting my best shots on the golf course in local tournaments, a bunch of you would be lining up to sponsor me on the Senior Tour. But you watch me actually play over a bit of time, you'd realize you were watching a 5 or 6 cap who struggles in a Club Championship setting. No doubt DK's got pedigree, size and talent. But he has to be raw, and he's had injuries two of his 3 seasons at Ole Miss. At the 12-15 range, ok give him a shot. But at 3? Not my choice. I'd rather we go with either Josh Allen or even Greedy at CB. I think the Jets are looking OL now though.

I dont think their size and speed makes them a comparable player.   Mike Evans was an absolutely unguardable monster in college.  He made jaw dropping plays in addition to the routine.  He could do it all.  He wasnt just a long ball specialist like Metcalf.  Evans lit up the SEC and the best corners they offered.  Metcalf has had 3 receivers catch more balls than him every year at Ole Miss and he has injury issues.

And sure, Mike Evans had a better QB in college.  However, that didnt stop Metcalf's teammate AJ Brown light up the league and put up Mike Evans like #'s.  So why is that an excuse for Metcalf?

DK Metcalf. If he runs under a 4.55 he will be in the same neighborhood as Mike Evans (4.53). Hes HUGE. 6'4 230, with ridiculously long arms. Huge catch radius. Beats guys deep, wins 50/50 balls. Has an iniury history, but they all do. Hes a bigger Braylon Edwards without baggage. Hes probably faster than Brandon Marshall, but without his baggage. Hes young, but has an amazing lineage, Father, Grandfather, and Uncle all played Pro Football. He gets it. Dude was a MAN in the SEC, not Div.2.

Jets haven't had a guy like this, a true, young, drafted #1 WR since arguably Keyshawn Johnson. (Ran around a 4.5 flat at 6'3 215 at his combine).

If DK blows up the combine and puts in a performance near Mike Evans, just turn in the card. Screw the top 100 lists and professional draft hobbyists telling you you "MUST DRAFT DEFENSIVE TACKLE X", or "BPA is the ONLY way to go"....thats how you wind up drafting Defense 18 out of 20 times, and end up with an underachieving DT and a Safety over Mahomes. And if you dont think theres "value" with the O linemen this year, you take a chance on the freak, possibly elite #1 receiver for your second year QB to grow up with.

And laugh at Kiper and McSham and all of the amateur draftniks while you do it.

Mike Williams (Kiper said he would be at Williams HOF induction before he was drafted)

Charles Rogers

David Terrell

Justin Blackmon (The ONCE IN A GENERATION talent many on Jets Insider posters were swearing we had to move up for)

Troy Edwards

Jon Baldwin

A.J. Jenkins

Laquon Treadwell

Peter Warrick

Freddie Mitchell

David Boston

Reggie Williams

Ashley Lelie

Darrius Heyward-Bey

Not to mention guys like Percy Harvin, Sammy Watkins, Kenny Britt....

Forgive me if I am not that excited about taking another can't miss wide-out way higher than projected for fear he might bust like many WR'S seem to do.

Give a guy enough chances with high first round picks, he can draft ONE WR that didn't flame out in three years.

If Roy Williams were a Jets draft pick, this board would be waxing poetic about him for another three decades.

What’s wrong with taking him at #3. No guarantee we’ll get an offer. If he’s the guy, then he’s the guy

I’m sold.

Stephen Hill had something like 40 catches TOTAL coming out of college which made him a huge gamble.  I was disgusted they didn’t take Alshon Jeffrey, just didn’t make sense but then I heard a story that he was so nasty even belligerent in his interview with the Jets they almost kicked him out half way through...mystery finally solved.  Metcalf is no Hill.

Anyone who can play and gives Darnold more help (lots of times Sammy doesn’t even need it, does it all himself) is what this team needs...Now.

Put Defense on the backburner, Williams will squeeze everything that is there already out, which will be at least 2x as good as Bowles and his no show job buddy Rogers

Ok at 12, but no at 3. Why? Seriously. Why the **** not? The money is negligible, and if you wind up with Calvin Johnson or even a young, uncrazy Brandon Marshall, nobody cares and everyone wins. If he busts? Who gives a ****. At least we tried to build around our young QB instead of busting at yet another Defensive player....Gholston, Dewayne Robertson, Calvin Pryor, Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson, Quentin Coples, Mohammed Wilkerson, or drafting another "BEST PLAYER IN THE DRAFT THAT 5 OTHER TEAMS MYSTERIOUSLY PASSED ON" that plays at a non premium position,  and on, and on, and on.......

I say if we can trade with the giants or Jacksonville even to get just a xtra 2nd so they can get qb they want and then draft dk with first if not just take him at 3 if bosa and allen are gone. With that 2nd take best ol available or if nkeal Harry is available take him too. It will solve are wr for long term. In fa grab two edge  and two ol one being center. And still have enough for bell if we want or another rb in fa. Then with rest of draft go bap. 💥 bam offense and defense fixed and we’re making the playoffs next year be itches. Btw I think if we trade with Denver dk will be gone by 10 especially if he blows up the combine

Trust me man, I'd love to get the play maker we need so badly. His health history scares me though. You mentioned Dee Milliner. Remember how his history? injured even when we picked him. Got hurt in camp, and it went on and on, until he was done. We need help in a lot of places, and don't have another pick until the 3rd round. I just want them to take a guy we can count on to be on the field producing.

Your point of why at 12 but not at 3 is a very good one. The best answer I can give is that the number of "can't miss guys" is a very limited one in any draft. This year the number seems exceptionally small. The only two I think most people agree on are Bosa and Allen. Some might include Quinnen Williams also, but I don't. We're at 3, hoping to get one of the top 2 somehow. If we were higher I wouldn't mind taking a chance on the "skill" guy, but from where we sit, I'd hate to reach.

I'm not saying I'm right. Hell I'd much rather "hit" on a WR then a Dl, but this just looks like a horrible year on the offensive side of the ball early on in this draft.

Metcalf isn’t the only WR that has potential in this draft and I want them to trade down, pick up the best OL available then draft a WR or RB (playmaker) or another OL in the second.

obviously depending on what happens in FA.

Every post and has a trade down clause. Someone look up when the last time we traded down. Like 1970? I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Let me put it this way. Fck the dline. Need a pass rusher? Free Agency. Lots of them sh*ts. OLINE? They’re all flawed in some manner. How many WR1s make it to FA? Zero? Less than zero? If they’re was a stalwart OT, then sure. Bosa, sure.

After that? Why not Metcalf

itll never happen for us btw, I would still like to at masterbate to the idea.
