Zach will be a back up QB next year for another team.

He will get an opportunity to compete for a backup role.

As a young talent he will get a shot. But as a scrap heap guy (and NOT their #2 overall pick) no FO or coaching staff will be vested enough to be patient.

For the first time in his career, he will have to earn a roster spot.

You do understand that he does not sit on their Board of Directors, does not work for them in any managerial or decision making role, does not grant him any day to day control of Jet Blue operations, and does not make him the manager of the marketing/advertising Dept.  It  also does not free him from answering to the other Shareholders (including the institutional shareholders) if it became known he was doing something nefarious/untowards with corporate assets, right?  You handwavium that with "yeah, but..." conspiracies doesn't make your silly theories fact.

You also know that Jet Blue would advertise with the local sports teams regardless, given their Hub is literally right there nearby.

You also know, I'm sure, that the Uncle now runs a whole different airline, and would presumably want any special deals to help THAT entity, one he directly would benefit from in theory, not his old employer/stock investment, right?

Lets be honest Matt, you're deeply invested in a conspiracy theory that has no real basis in demonstrable facts or evidence, but is based on just a few coincidences you (and a few others) have blown completely out of proportion, without any actual evidence supporting it outside of "well that's how the rich do things", to turn into this silly conspiracy theory where Woody is knowingly and consciously destroying his team every year forcing Zach on JD (while apparently alos forcing Rodgers on JD too), demanding Wilson play (even though he's been benched twice), letting Zach "do nothing", despite Zach starting most of the past three seasons, etc, etc, etc, to somehow help Jet Blue (an advertiser with the Jets) which somehow helps Zach's uncle (politically you once claimed) who does not run Jet Blue, by letting his born-after-he-left-Jet Blue nephew not work even though he started for us, and on and on and on.

It's laughable mate.

Great. Let’s get Wilson off of the roster then. Until then, we can speculate he has friends in high places.

Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh and Aaron Rodgers do not want him gone, hence why he is not gone.

Too big? What do you mean? Who does that impact? Oh right, Woody.

Wrong his dead cap was 20 million. He was due 9 this year. That’s -11 million that comes off their cap. That means Joe Douglas has 11 million less to work with. That’s the reason he is still there. Zach gets that money regardless from Woody (his salary was fully guaranteed due to his draft position). It’s the way Douglas structured the contract.

He will be the #2 on a team - and it won't be because of his family.  It will be because he's capable of keeping his team in games and winning a few if a team loses their QB for a few weeks.

They don’t have to cut Zach, but they can deactivate him and send him home. I can’t imagine he’s welcome in the locker room right now, and this story is going to linger as long as he’s around the team. The Jets are handling this about as poorly as they can.

I agree been saying this for days enough already.

I’d be surprised if he’s still in the league in two years. He has his money, he knows he stinks, and he’s an off-putting, effete Utah rich kid. The backup QB is a popular rah-rah guy that players rally around. Zach is the opposite of that. Hackenbergian in that sense.

Logically I say no but I will not put anything past Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, or Aaron Rodgers. Those 3 plus Wilson’s play down the stretch will largely dictate where he is next year.

I don’t believe Saleh does. Too much smoke.

Zach will be a blake bortles type backup and will shift around from team to team as a backup as long as he wants to play.

The league is so bereft of even competent #2 and #3 guys there is a place for zach on some team.

People assume he’ll follow the same trajectory as sanchez, geno and darnold but he won’t.  Darnold and sanchez were generally liked by their teammates and extended careers partially b/c of it.  Geno became a functional starter after years of watching and rehabilitating his image.  All 3 had a passion for the game we never saw wiht wilson.

Sure.  Zach may choose to not continue playing as a back up.  So you're probably correct.

But that would be his choice.  If he wanted he could likely stick around the league quite a while as a #2.

Bortles sucked, but he was an absolute dude. Real Florida bro. Zach is not at all a dude.

Yeah, I don’t know about that. Backup QBs are usually not that talented. They’re grunts and football junkies. There are twenty QBs in every draft class who are more talented than, say, Minshew or Mike White, but they never sniff a roster.

This has been a theme of Joe Douglas entire tenure. Poor player management.

4) Next year Zach Wilson will be a #2 on another team.  So someone not named Woody Johnson will be taking a chance on him too.

no way is he a #2 next year. a #3 or even a PS QB.

after what he did for 3 years and with QBs dropping like flies its more important than ever to have a competent QB be the backup.

There have been plenty of bitches that after getting dumped a few times rehabilitate and mature.

Zach’s career path—

—Cut by Jets in March after being offered in trades for weeks with no bites.

—Signs with Denver (Chargers? Dallas?) for the minimum. Spends the season bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and active roster.

—Gets a spot start late in 2024, throws two picks, waived after season.

—Signs with Niners in February 2025, gets cut at the end of training camp. Spends the season prepping for a career in broadcasting.

—Signs with Fox Sports as a game analyst for their MAAC coverage.
