Popular Post Jet_Engine1
Fireman Ed claims he's being phased out at Jets games (nypost.com) Quote Fireman Ed insists something has been amiss lately at MetLife Stadium at Jets games. The Jets superfan, whose real name is Ed Anzalone, took to Instagram on Tuesday to allege that his screen time on the video boards at MetLife Stadium had been decreasing and fellow Jets fans were taking notice of it. “I’ve been getting a lot of emails and texts from fans about the Jet experience in the stadium with the big screens,” Anzalone began in the video. “Last night in particular — although on the Denver game also — last night in particular [the Jets] scored a touchdown and normally as a tradition we’re always put on the screen.” Anzalone noted how the stadium would also put the superfans on the screen to get the crowd going while the Jets were on defense. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but they’re phasing us out,” he said. “I’d like to know if somebody knows anything, please let me know, because it’s evident that it’s happening. And it needs to stop because we need home-field advantage. That’s what we have and we need to keep it going. Something is going on, so please let me know if you know something.” The Jets did not immediately respond to The Post when sought for comment. Anzalone has been one of the most prominent Jets fans over the years with his trademark Jets fireman hat while leading the famous “J-E-T-S” chant during home games at MetLife Stadium. He was first put on the video board at Giants Stadium, the team’s previous home, back in 1986 and remained a fixture up until 2012, when he renounced his fandom during the infamous butt fumble game on Thanksgiving night. Anzalone returned to the Fireman Ed persona in 2015 and has remained ever since. He has such a large place in Jets fandom that he was brought onto “The Pat McAfee Show” last week to react to the news that Robert Saleh had been fired as the Jets coach. My response on the Post Website: They aren't "phasing out" the chant, Ed. You're just upset that you're not on the screen. The chant has been around since before he was a fan or there were huge video screens in stadiums and will continue to be a thing as long as the fans want to keep doing it. To be honest, Jets fans need to learn WHEN to be loud, when to shut up for the Offense, and the chant should be a naturally occurring thing. From one retired Fireman to another... chill, bro. 12

Didn’t do the JET chant after the kickoff score kind of weird Because the Jets crowd is weak. I went to MetLife for the first time last season. The PA people don't help with the incessant screamingly loud music, sound FX, yelling, whistles, etc. It made the In Stadium experience kind of miserable... the Jets getting crushed by the Chargers didn't help. When I used to go to a LOT of games in the 1990's the crowd just... did the chant organically and made noise when needed - and kept quieter when we had the ball. The Post-PSL crowd sucks at rooting for Football and apparently needs a retired Fireman to spell J-E-T-S. LOL 6 1 1

There is no space for an organic experience anymore. 7 4

Thought about Jet_Lieutenant and Jet_Captain (how pretentious), and finally Jet_Investigator, but Jet_Engine sounds cooler. lol Then again, Jet_FireCodeAdministrator has a certain ring to it... 1

I guess it brought him fame, though, and it looks like he's enjoying it so good for him. This whole "you're phasing me out" thing seems a bit much though, even for him. He's essentially nobody. He's not a team employee and he doesn't speak for all Jet fans (regardless of how the media might try to spin things). He's just 1 guy, the same as any other Jet fan, regardless of how vocal.

It's like that in all the major sports. I've gotten into the UFC recently and it feels like it still has some organic stuff in it. The fighters certainly say controversial things. It's refreshing that something like that can even exist today.

JoeNamathsFurCoat
No doubt, this is why the team lost. If only they'd gotten Eddie on the big board more! 🤣 (Though now that I think about it, for whatever reason, it didn't seem like there were as many Jet chants Monday night.)

I might take the boys to Jax in December just to see a live game, but that stadium is so easy to get in and out of and Decent hotels are so close, it's a pleasant trip (went in 2012). Jax fans are tame and it's not crazy expensive. Just getting back to the Hilton 1 mile from the stadium last year was a legit problem. Uber was $60. Not kidding. All the guys I tailgated with kind of disappeared after the loss so I said **** it and walked back. Had to jump a fence for the first time in a while. Most fun part of the night...
