neckdemon
i knwo we all know that revis is the best CB in the league. but i just read this littel bit of info and i was absolutely impressed. maybe some of yo ugusy already knew this but i didn't realize the extent of how dominant he was in the play-offs last year against 2 of the best passing offenses in the league. i mean i saw the games and i knew he was playing great but i didn't know it was this great. so i wanted to post this for other peopel who might not have known just how great he was either. In the second week of the playoffs, Revis and the Jets defeated the AFC's #2 seed the San Diego Chargers, 17-14. Since the San Diego Chargers had a large variety of well acclaimed receivers, Revis was forced to cover most of them. Philip Rivers, the San Diego quarterback, only threw the ball to a receiver covered by Revis three times during the entire game. Two of the three were tipped away by Revis for an incomplete pass, and the third was an interception. His interception was made diving to the ground to catch the ball that was deflected off the shoe of Chargers' wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Revis' interception changed the momentum of the game and was instrumental in the Jets' 17-14 victory. The win led the Jets to the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets first trip to the AFC Championship game since 1998. Unfortunately, the Jets lost 30-17, due to a lack of scoring in the second half (0 points), and poor secondary playing, with the exception of Revis himself, who only allowed 2 receptions. so 2 games against the chargers and the colts and he only allows 2 receptions? that's incredible. PS17
Peter King posted something like this in his column on SI.com after the Chargers game. He said Rivers was 1-4 for -4 yards and a pick, on balls thrown to Revis. The one completion was a screen in the backfield to Tomlinson which Revis shut down immediately. If there were an NFL Draft held today with all the players in the league, he would very possibly be the #1 overall pick. Especially when you factor in how young he is, and at a cornerstone position. SoFlaJets
and you know I was watching NFLN last night and they had a screen shot of that Ginn MNF TD and the player who had the main coverage was #25 Kerry Rhodes-the safety didn't do his job-it shouldn't have been a TD if Rhodes was doing what he was supposed to do-or if he was faster

leonwash29
he had an amazing season last year, realistically its going to be almost impossible to re-do that, i love him and know hes the best there is but i hope these ridiculous expectations of under 75 yards allowed and no td's or whatever people expect dont affect his game

It's a progression since we drafted him. He was great in 2008 and made the pro bowl. He was awesome last year and I think he's going to be even better this year. He's just entering his prime! Not to mention having Cromartie across from him. Madness

DMaynard
Certainly fans have a tendency to over rate their own players. Not in this case. Cornerback has always been my favorite position and I have seen all of the great ones since the mid sixties. Adderley, Willie Brown, Jim Johnson, Lem Barney, Mike Haynes, Rod Woodson, Deion, Charles Woodson, Champ Baily, to name a few. Revis could end up the best ever. He is that good. First off my son has issues when it comes to jerseys. He owns a fair amount and I quit buying them for him after Vilma left. The kids still wear his Johnny Abe authentic, I sorta feel responsible. Truth is my kids aren;t that into video game, they like to play outside, weird huh? Oh yeah if they need pron we keep it in the porn drawer, next to the emergency slim jims.
