Most important lesson from this trip

This game was the first time I actually feared for my safety in a hostile environment. Alot of Pissburgh fans were acting like packs of wild animals wanting to fight with/beat up on Jets fans. If I ever go to a game like this again, I will wear my Jets gear for the pre game festivities, BUT when it comes to time time to go into the stadium, I will be wearing plain clothes.

I've been to Buffalo (once), Miami (twice), both NY teams (4 times total), Dallas (once), Indy (twice), Chicago (once), Tampa (once) and Pittsburgh (twice). Pittsburgh fans are far and away the most drunk and threatening I have ever encountered in my travels.

I actually made a post before the AFC Championship Game laying out the douchebaggery I ran into on my visits to Pittsburgh.

WOW...thats pussy style dude. I rock my gear on road games no matter what. Honestly you should stay home if your too scared to root for your team on the road....it's not for everyone.

i was at the game and didnt think it was anything worse than a typical Jets home game.........I cant speak for your specific experiences but I thought Pitt fans were pretty cool towards me....hell they were even trying to buy me drinks at halftime!

+1 i didnt have any issues at all really sunday besides the usual BS. was actually having fun pregaming with a bunch of steeler fans that were real cool. Inside the stadium i didnt have any serious issues

Dont be a pussy if you cant represent in NYJETS gear then stay the hell home.

Just being there is representing. I met Revis family on Saturday and they were nice enough to warn me about what to expect. Player relatives all went inside in plain clothes. its not about being a pussy, its common sense, its a lot easier to enjoy the game and root for the team without the other crap.

This is hostile territory that is occupied by Trailer trash.

My 1st trip to Pittsburgh was in December of 1995. The Pats sucked but Curtis Martin was having a homecoming as he is a Pittsburgh native. His Mum sat in front of me at the game and was not treated well. When I went to the bathroom at the old Three Rivers Stadium I thought I was going to die. Steeler fans are the scum of the earth.

Agreed, they actually make Raider fans look good. In all my years at the Meadowlands, I never saw groups of Jet fans attack other fans. Fights happen everywhere. 1 on 1, anyone can handle. 10 on 1 the odds arent too good. To wear a logo in that case is not worth it.

Saw others! received plenty of threats, and a few guys did start the shoving crap when I was in line for hot chocolate.

Saw more than enough to be compelled to write a letter to the NFL.

They were not bad at all....what do you expect, you're in their house

WHere did you end up sunday?

The Casino. Got there early for the free parking and just hung out. I actually like the casino and the city. Plan on going there to see more of the city in the summer.

Hey - everybody's experience can be different at the same venue. I was at the Cleveland game this year and they took us in like we were adopted! Granted, we were red-headed step-children, but they asked us to tailgate with them and then even went to their bar after the game. Then I get home and read that some 8-year-old kid got roughed up at the game!! I didn't see any of that, but I can understand how two people can have completely different situations. If Jetman had encounters with A-holes, it doesn't mean every Jet fan did.

Good point. Everyone does have different experiences, mine was not bad to moderate.

Tyson was in a really bad section, everyone there had a rough day.

I am not sure what was worse my section or waiting for a taxi outside out of the stadium...I get the whole drunk trash talking thing...been there done that all across the country including Philly... On Sunday these guys were out of control.. running up yelling and screaming in our faces, constant badgering. Then the verbal threats where troopers had to intervene. It was a complete joke.

This is the first time in my life, I feel compelled to write a letter to the NFL. I probably should just do it. Even if it gets ignored, at least I am doing my part to make them aware.

Was at a Pitt game a few years back IN OUR HOUSE and they still acted like they were Gods gift to the world, taunting and screaming " THIS IS OUR HOUSE" in the Meadowlands. Actually had one squealer fan with a g/f sitting behind us explaining to her how he thinks there is 3 quarters in agame. Pitt fans suck, most of them are fans because they have the most rings and no other reason. I know people from Pitt who I haven't heard from in 3 years and all of a sudden I am getting texts andphone calls. F all oh them.

Granted Jets fans are far from innocent doing our chants in opposing stadiums etc (Hell I know I have done that) but for me when you starting pushing people and throwing things that is just ridiculous. At the end of the day it is just a game

Due it's the right move. Your their to see a game, not to be the next You Tube sensation as you get your head stomped in. I see the younger guys point, I was the same way in my twenties and early 30's. But at 44, five kids, two mortgages and being self employed getting home without a lawsuit or an injury is more important. If I where you though the first thing I would do is wear a hat, that hair just kinda screams.. "Kick my a$$ Please".

Trust me, living in pittsburgh and being a jets fan is like being in hell. Cant watch TV, listen to radio, open newspaper or really do anything. They are the most obnoxious over the top a-hole fanbase in the world. I am living in a nightmare since we lost.

I would not have guessed that Pittsburgh fans were like that. The next time the Jets play there, I think I will get a Rothlisberger jersey, change the name to Rapelisberger and wear along with a Jets cap. Really mess with them.

Why bother? I think they sell them like that at the stadium gift shop same section as the commemorative bathroom stall of rape piggy bank, must have for any Steelers fan. Cracks me up how many female Steeler fans defend Big Ben.

Foxboro is like Disney Land compared to Pittsburgh. I know you have made the trek to Foxboro a few times but apart from the booing in the parking lot did you ever feel threatened?

I really don't think anyone would notice the difference in the spelling.

Never been to Pittsburgh. but I really gave it to the Steelers fans after the game in 2007 at the Meadowlands. but I was just screaming ''here we go steelers, here we go''.. not f u and being pushed.

JetsSteelers006.jpg

That's the game I was talking about, they were acting like they owned the place but shut their yaps later.
