SouthernJet
Thoughts? Add names you think Jets may be looking at. Adding really doesnt mean endorsement but your feeling Jets may be going there. So no demeaning comments to posters for their thoughts, just sound opinion please. We can compile a nice list as we go along with comments. I will start: QB: - WVU's Geno Smith, can play WCO but would need to get in 1st ound. Do Jets do that or move down and accululate picks? - NCState Mike Glennon, I know Jet shave traveled three times to see him up close. Makes silly mental mistakes but is very Flacco-like at this early stage. 6'7" and can make all throws, leads Receivers nicely - FSU EJ Manuel - Tenn Tyler Bray - Miami Univ Zac Dysert RB: - North Carolina's Gio Bernard (pass catching RB (WCO) and great Punt returner. Found endzone in every game he played in 2012. - Alabama Lacy, does Power runner fit new WCO? - Nevada's Stepfon Jefferson, a sleeper. Strong, good pass catcher. Late rounds. - Rutgers Jawan Jamison WR: - Baylor's Terrance Williams, very impressive in WCO routes etc. Had another great year AFTER RGIII left. - Clemson DeAndre Hopkins, stepped up when Sammy watkins out. Burner with good hands, rare combo, LOL - Cal's Keenan Allen, WCO specialist per Bit. Top 15 though may be too rich for Jets blood - USC Robert Woods - Oklahoma Kenny Stills TE: - San Diego St. Gavin Escobar, nice combo of strength and pass catch skills needed for WCO OL: - Alabama Chance Warmack - Alabama DJ Fluker - Notre Dame Braxston Cave DE: LB: - Southern Miss Jamie Collins, fast motor who is always around the ball. Could be a very good pick. - Western kentucky Quanterus Smith, sleeper with great speed. cant get later in drfat due to ACL. If cleared medicalaly could be a steal. - LSU Barkevious Mingo. Stud, gone probably when Jets pick per Bit. - FSU Bjoern Werner - Georgia Jarvis Jones DT/NT: - North Carolina Sylvester Williams, great speed/size and was a JUCO add to UNC yet still became team leader. Jets were seen eyeing him VERY closely at Shrine Bowl. Interviewed him there. CB: - Miami Brandon McGee Safety: Kickers: Special teams Studs: Edited February 6, 2013 by SouthernJet

bitonti
Keenan Allen from California is a WCO specialist, best WR in the class and slated to go top 15. gotta put Barkevious Mingo on the list altho if he runs a 4.45 he might be long gone

SenorGato
How many offensive players are going to have to qualify as "WCO" players? It's 2013. Anyone who can actually play football at the NFL level can fit in with the WCO. I want one of the pass rushers. Whichever one of them is any good. You hear anything? I know they are also sniffing DT/NT Sylvester Williams also (paid a lot of attention at Senior Bowl). I will be at UNCs National Signing Day Dinner/Meet&Greet w/Coachs tomorrow night. I will 'poke' around
Il Mostro
Rober Woods is going be one of the steals of the draft -- good chance of him still being available in the third round depending on how things shake out. He'd be one of the top rated WR's coming out this year if a guy named Marquise Lee hadn't come along.

HessStation
I'm talking myself into Geno Smith. if he's still there and they gamble on him at 9 I don't think anyone can complain.

bitonti
geno smith should be drafted at 29 or 39. not at 1 or 9. JMO. Gotta put Dion Jordan on the list. He's an incredible athlete and likely in that top 15 range too

JetsFanInDenver
I would focus on drafting LB/OL/TE/WR/RB. We have to go this year with an interim QB.
peebag
I would focus on drafting LB/OL/TE/WR/RB. We have to go this year with an interim QB. My pref is this 1st OL, 2nd LB 3rd QB - interim qb serves absolutely no purpose to the Jets next year unless their name is Manning - might as well start bringing in prospects.... The lack of talent and the cap situation dictates this be a 2 year...for lack of a better term......PROCESS. Prospects for QB usually payoff the higher they are drafted. Do not see anyone that deserves a #9 pick this season. So apart from drafting in the lower rounds there is not much of an option. Maybe the JETS get lucky like the Pats did. But the surefire way to appraoch this is leave the drafting of the QB to next season. Plus there is a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance Sanchez might start playing like a starting caliber NFL QB!
T0mShane
geno smith should be drafted at 29 or 39. not at 1 or 9. JMO. If he has a chance to be a big player, they should take him. Russell Wilson got drafted where he "should have," and he'd be the first overall pick this year with what we know now. If Idzik interviews him and picks him, I'm with that. Idzik seems like he could care less about the back pages, which was 50% of the reason we drafted Sanchez. Gotta put Dion Jordan on the list. He's an incredible athlete and likely in that top 15 range too Bah with the "athlete" bologna. Vernon Gholston was an "incredible athlete." Matt39
Hell Russell Wilson would go first last year too based on what we saw this year.

Matt39
Jets need to just make the permanent switch to the 4-3...considering Rex doesnt even care about rushing the passer from the outside..

Resign Mauga at SLB Davis WLB. Draft your De at 9 and sign another to rotate w/ McIntyre.
Ignatius del Sol
Jets need to just make the permanent switch to the 4-3... There really isn't much of a difference between our defense and the USC 4-3 Carroll runs in Seattle.

Yeah hopefully he doesn't step out of Lee's shadow during the combine part of the pro-cess because he is a very good WR prospect. I am with Shane on Geno Smith. He's a better QB prospect than I thought earlier on. Edited February 6, 2013 by SenorGato
SpartanJet
Is Geno a real 6'3" or a Sanchez 6'2" if he is standing on 2 phone books? A bit short for my tastes anyway I'd go with the 6'6" Mike Glennon if I was going to roll the dice on a QB. Can't teach height and arm strength which are tangible weapons in the NFL. No more smurf QB's please.
SenorGato
not so true. many RBs have crap hands but are very solid runners. The WCO expects all RBs to be able to catch at a high skill level. Bye Bye Greene lol Every offense in 2013 wants their RB to be able to catch the ball a little bit. Greene managed to haul in 50 Sanchez 5 yard rockets over the past couple of years so he's not completely incompetent there, though they might go with a new back just for the heck of it depending on cost. But he had a really bad 3 game stretch and his Bowl game was not great. 2 horrible safeties in the snow at Yankee stadium against syracuse. I don't think he's gonna be a big player. He's more like Colt McCoy in terms of accuracy in a (mostly) 1 read offense. He's the best QB in an awful QB crop. I hope the Jets wait 1 year cause 2014 is a way better year for QB. Geno would maybe be 4th best in that group. Edited February 6, 2013 by bitonti
