kuma
what happens to Rex. The Jets go 8-8 again and win their last 7 games in a row. I say Rex will still be the head coach next season
RSJ
Wondering the same thing over here. Looking at the other teams in the wildcard hunt, it's easy to formulate scenarios where the Jets make it at 8-8 or even 7-9. Very hard schedule for other teams that are around .500. Simijet
I'll play . . . if the Jets won the remainder of their games you know Woody would keep Rex without a second thought. However, we both know the Jets will be lucky to win more than a couple of the remaining games, and even given this more likely scenario - it wouldn't surprise me to see Rex on the sidelines next season. IPBanBadPosters
I could see Rex being extended at 2-14; at 8-8, Woody will erect a bronze statue of him outside of MetLife.
BroadwayJets
It just doesn't seem possible that we can win against the dolphins twice. Could pull out a W Dec 21st against the Pats. Hope so anyway, I'LL BE THERE!!!!!
RSJ
Not entirely likely but Vick has been known to get hot and rip off 7 or 8 wins in a row, so has Rex. Giants started 0-6 and finished 8-8 last year. Again, not likely but possible.

predator_05
impossible to win out. Got buffalo and miami the next 2 weeks, both in contention for a wild card. They won't go easy. then we get Minnesota on the road, another tricky game against a young team led by a new coach wanting to prove something. tennessee week 15 is the toilet bowl, we got a shot at winning that one. might be the week when CJ decides to have his 1 good game of the year. then we got New england at home, automatic loss. they will be playing for that home field advantage miami away on the last week, another winnable game. 3-13, 4-12 at best. Buffalo is a different game without those Geno turnovers. Miami lost to Detroit today. NE was winnable once already in NE with Geno at QB. Tenn will have a CJ revenge factor to it and they suck. Minn is terrible. Completely possible.

RSJ
Easy for you, maybe. Maybe easy wasn't the right word. Lol. Buff and Mia still have lots of tough teams left. SD playing poorly, tough remaining schedule. Ditto KC. Just pointing this out, that's all.
New York Mick
what happens to Rex. The Jets go 8-8 again and win their last 7 games in a row. RutgersJetFan
We scored 7 points off 4 turnovers today. This team has as good a shot at winning out and making the playoffs as Tom Thumb does at catching ebola.
kuma
I didn't say they would make the playoffs at all. They will not make the playoffs, just if they go 8-8,would Rex keep his job? He should if they win out. The funny thing if that did happen is this, The Jets would end the season will 7 wins in a row and could have a longer winning streak than all other teams and not make the playoffs. Just a little weird, so with that said they won't win out.

I say Rex will still be the head coach next season Running the table is very unlikely. Despite all of Rex's likeable qualities, he still has a long way before becoming an effective head coach again, for reasons discussed many times in this forum. He is going to be let go at the end of the year

Doubt very much the Jets win more than 3 more games. Can't really bring Rex back. It looks too much like he ruins Quarterbacks, esp. with the Sanchise playing well for Eagles. .....at least we can learn a lot about our team this year: The Bad: 1) We don't have a quarterback 2) Our guard situation is a mess 3) Our secondary is a bigger mess 4) Our linebackers are old and slow 5) Chris Johnson is washed up 6) We still lack an elite outside rusher The Good: 1) Our D-line does not need to be touched 2) Our new receiving corp could be elite with a good QB 3) Chris Ivory can be a top-10 back 4) Mangold and Brick can still be relied upon 5) We have some intriguing young guys in the LB position . RSJ
No, it isn't. Pittsburgh came out flat and unprepared. Pittsburgh could have not shown up at all and beaten the Jets with Geno and Pryor in the lineup. The Jets played well against a very good team. It's one week - but it was positive. Maxman
No, it isn't. Pittsburgh came out flat and unprepared. Pitt was asleep. Give the Jets credit that they did not get cute, used Ivory as a banger and then established an edge with Harvin and Vick. The bomb that Vick threw was a thing of beauty. This was a game that should have been a 28 point blow-out based on effort and circumstance alone. The fact that it was close as 7, shows you how far the Jets have to go. Latinlawyer
No way they run the table. The only consistency you see from them is consistent bad play. This game was an anomaly and there may yet be 1 or 2 more anomalies butoverall we know this team is not fit to win out. Rex will be gone and Idzik will have at least two more years with his own QB UNLESS they lose out. This win probably saved idzik...Rex is a goner. kuma
I think the next game will be the real telling tale for the rest of the year. The team having a week off, then playing the Bills will tell you what they might be doing for the rest of the games. They came out playing this week, is that going to continue. I think the rest of the season is going to change for the better, for wins but not the draft for better draft positioning.
