It's too early to give up

If the Jets run with Wilson as the QB1 the rest of the season, then THEY are giving up.  This defense is too good to waste another year.  The need to do whatever it takes to get a veteran QB in here who can act as a game manager and keep mistakes to a minimum and let the defense do their thing to keep us in every game.

Basically, JD is now forced to trade for one of the guys @Jetsfan80, myself and others wanted to sign when they were available on the free market mere weeks ago, in some cases.

This very well maybe a 10 win team with @The Crusher under center.

Which is why it was madness that JD didn't add to the QB room.  His current starter for the "rest of the season" per Saleh (not true, but he still said it) is more than capable of losing games on his own.  A baseline, JAG QB2 acquired during the offseason was the simplest solution to this and Douglas botched it.

And even if we go get one now, we can’t go back in time and have him go through training camp.

Who can they realistically get right now though, for no more than a 3rd? And how soon can that guy absorb the playbook enough to actually play well?

At a minimum they need a backup to Zach so the sooner the better. Zach isn’t exactly an Iron Man himself.

I'm just trying to get through the workday. Stayed up late to watch the post-game, drank one more than planned. Woke up today feeling down due to the AR injury.  I'm a grown man still letting this crap affect my days, lol - need to do some self-scouting

The key to being a functional human and also a Jets fan is to have low expectations

Or no expectations at all

This team does not deserve our faith trust and hope

The best surprise is positive upside surprise. No one jumped off a bridge because things worked out like they expected.

Got the devastation but here are a few things that are silver lining,  some we didn't have last year.

We won the turnover battle huge.

Penalties were really low,  2 for 10 yards.

5 sacks on one of the most mobile QB's in the NFL

67% completion by the back up QB

A kicker who actually kicks field goals

Breece had 109 yards on his first 2 carries and now he is back up by pro bowl cook.

Just saying,  maybe give it a week of ZW practicing with the 1's and NH actually planning for ZW.

Well this didn't  take long. I just expected this from Joe W Namath.

Let's recap this post.

We won the T/O battle against the most T/O prone QB in the last 3 years.

Zach threw 21 passes for 140 yards with one terrible pick and one TD that he owes to a complete circus catch by a stud WR. If you think this is the kind of performance that wins games, I don't  know what to tell you.

Agree that GZ has been some what of a revelation  but this just shows how bad our kickers have been when a kicker makes a 40 yard kick and we think we have found a stud.

Breece was about the only true bright spot of the game for Jet fans. I think we build on this but we are going to be seeing a lot of stacked boxes from here.

Trade for Minshew.  Sign Wentz. Either option is an upgrade imo. They can be ready to play in a few weeks.

Im excited for the season

Defense looked great

Run game looked like a force, right side looked like they could have their way with anything that wasn’t an overload

Specials were good

ARod goes down, said this earlier but indifferent, let out an only us laugh when it happened and besides when it’s brought up on this board. It’s like we never had him anyway.

Can’t wait for next week

This was the first time I’ve had optimism for the jets in ~10 years or so. I should have known better

yeah well still happy they won what does that say about me?

Im kind of like F Aaron. The worm was going to turn on this one it's better it happened right away

rather than Week 17 or something

he's an old punch drunk boxer they never should have trotted him out there to play with 22 year olds

If the jets get a QB with a pulse in there then no need to give up, they cannot just rely on wilson, boyle stinks.

How aggressively Douglas goes after a QB will tell me if he has given up.

He owes it to the talent on the rest of the roster to make a legitimate addition to the QB room.

Giving up isn't an option.

This is a key reason people die of drug overdoses and in despair.   Low expectations is a fear based defense mechanism.

Team is too good to tank anyways.  Evidence:  Last night's result.

You can't start 1-0 against a divisional opponent and then turn around and toss in the towel.

The roster up and down is too good to be uncompetitive. The best player on the team is and has been QW, not AR, and the best unit is the defense, not the offense. As long as the offense doesn't lose us games, we will be in it to win those games. That said, we needed a special teams TD and four turnovers to win this one. That scenario won't replicate itself often meaning as well as we played, it really shouldn't have been enough... many of these games will be "the defense is legit" losses of like, 22-13

Same page for sure.  Not sustainable at all.  We need a significant upgrade at QB to have a shot at being competitive.
