NIGHT STALKER
Tuesday typically is the NFL's busy day, with teams conducting tryouts for free agents. And many teams were at it again today, most notably the Jets, who went in search of a kicker to replace Mike Nugent. The Jets worked out three kickers -- former Minnesota Vikings veteran Paul Edinger, former San Francisco 49er Owen Pochman, and former Boise State standout Tyler Jones. But the Jets didn't look only at kickers. They also worked out former Cleveland wide receiver Frisman Jackson, former Cardinals running back James Hodgins and former Packers guard William Whitticker. What a friggn' waste of a 2nd round draft pick. Talk about a huge B-U-S-T.
Bugg
What a friggn' waste of a 2nd round draft pick. Talk about a huge B-U-S-T. Not yet. But another game like last Sunday, and he'll be gone. True as far as using a 2nd rounder on a kicker. But the Jets were run by imbeciles during that draft. So far you are 100% correct (at least you didn't say 1st round pick like most idiots). Nuge might turn out to be something good, but right now he is a complete bust. AFJF
I like Edinger, and personally wondered why the Jets didn't sign him as a FA instead of drafting Nugent.

JetCane
I am surprised he has not landed a job thus far. I wonder if there is something about him that we don't know. Isnt he the guy who runs in a semi circle before he kicks the ball? He wasnt too good when he kicked for a team that played in a dome- why would he be any better kicking outdoors? No thanks
Verde
Mangini knows he aint gonna get another Vinatieri so.. ya know, this was probably a tactic to wake Nuge up a bit..
Green DNA
Mangini knows he aint gonna get another Vinatieri so.. ya know, this was probably a tactic to wake Nuge up a bit.. Exactly V, he is lighting a fire under Nugent's ass. The guy had a srong training camp and pre-season so I don't think they will throw him overboard right now. He just better not screw up on Sunday or he'll get two behind the ear.

SoFlaJets
I like Edinger, and personally wondered why the Jets didn't sign him as a FA instead of drafting Nugent. in 2005 for Minny he was 35-34... 11-11 @20-29 3-8 @ 30-39 8-10 @ 40-49 and 3-5 over 50 with his longest being a 56 yarder oh yea 31-31 on PATs and a 59.4 average on KOs Not too bad guys and gals... I agree with the Graham part SE and have been wondering why the hell he hasn't been tried at KOs and an occasional long FG try-I'm encouraged that Mangini actually brought in 3 guys WOW!!! what a difference in these two regimes You-know-who would have NEVER done that

Jetsfan80
I never understood why kickers can't punt & vice versa. It's not like one uses his hands & the other uses his feet. The Falcons are currently experimenting with that with their special teamer Micheal Koennen (sp?). He is their place kicker, punter, and kickoff specialist. If he gets hurt during a game, they are screwed, because they have no backup. Nevertheless, he performed very well last week.
124
IMHO if Nugent keeps this **** up this Week we need to sign Edinger. He's used to kicking in rough winds. BUT, I'm not ready to give up on The Nuge just yet.

BUT, I'm not ready to give up on The Nuge just yet. Hey 124, what's the deal with your boy, and exactly how did you screw up your assessment of him that badly after watching all those games he performed in at Ohio State? How does "he can kick 55+ yarders in swirling winds" become "one more bad game and we need a new kicker" in one season?
124
We would need to bring in a new kicker for THE TIME BEING while Nugent works out whatever the hell happened to him last week in Tennessee.

Biggs
What a friggn' waste of a 2nd round draft pick. Talk about a huge B-U-S-T. Most of Bradway's picks were Busts. To early to say yet but really who cares. Now that Vinateri is gone from the Pats we don't need a great kicker to compete with the Pats, any JAG will do.
